just because he talks with an accent - doesn't mean he is a thug. and for sure, this accident will bring about stricter regulation of private aviation over manhattan. and it should. Why should it bring more regulation over NYC? Accidents happen. This one caused a small fire and four deaths. Sorry. Move on. Terrorists can kill more people using simpler methods, and knee-jerk restrictions on law-abiding citizens means that "the terrorists have won." hackneyed, sure, but if we now distrust people who fly planes, then who is next? truckers? anyone in an SUV coming into NYC? Where does it stop?

Some interesting information...I just heard on local news.
Texas Air National Guard were scrambled immediately after 911 attack [scrambled in 2 minutes] and they escorted A/F 1 for 2 days.

No disrespect for Lidle or his family but as soon as the Yankee Pitcher was announced to have been the pilot the story took a weird turn from "Bush's fault" that planes are allowed to fly unchecked on the Hudson to all about Cory Lidle.
No reflection on Lidle but it just shows the power of celebrity.

Yes this was a good opportunity for NORAAD to test everything out. They likely found some wrinkles to fix and no harm done since this was just a single accident.

Dietl has a point. It is a little silly for that area to be unrestricted space. Its just the wrong climate for that. Safety suggests a change.

"I hope you're right that this is an accident. But, remember, the whole idea of terrorism is not just to kill but to TERRORIZE. I have many friends who live in Manhattan high-rises and I'm sure they will not sleep well tonight or in the weeks to come."
How many people died from car accidents in New York today alone? More than died in plane accidents. Even if it were terrorism anyone who'd be afraid is being irrational.
Plus like another poster said there are plenty of higher profile targets out there. Hell spinach killed more people this month!
