We are trying to even the playing field a little by allowing the good guys to have guns, too.
Why go into a fight knowing that the bad guys have guns, but we can not defend ourselves?

In the wake of school shootings in Wisconsin, Colorado and Pennsylvania during the last two weeks, a Wisconsin state legislator said he plans to introduce legislation that would allow teachers, principals, administrators and other school personnel to carry concealed weapons.
Rep. Frank Lasee, R-Bellevue, said Wednesday that, while his idea may not be politically correct, it has worked effectively in other countries.
"To make our schools safe for our students to learn, all options should be on the table," he said.
"Israel and Thailand have well-trained teachers carrying weapons and keeping their children safe from harm. It can work in Wisconsin."
Lasee stressed that the measure would hinge on school staff members getting strict training on the use of the weapons.

How many teachers have killed students lately or at all? Do you think the only reason they haven't is because they weren't allowed a gun on the premises?
Criminals can easily obtain guns and bombs.
The criminals can easily bring lots of guns and bombs into the school.
Are the teachers and administrators voting no to the good guys having a chance to defend themselves ?

No way...never...not! For so many reasons no! That is the most insane idea I've heard in the last 10 minutes.
Professionally trained security guards, locked doors, and searches...yes. Teachers with guns? NOT!!!

I'm not so sure. I think Utah already allows adults with CCW permits to carry in schools. I suspect that any state that actually wants to go forward with this will simply modify their existing concealed carry statute. Staes that aren't interested will simply not change their law.

First of all I don't teach but I'm married to a teacher. Second I've been in both large and smaller rural districts. The IBP is on it's way out because of opposition and lack of participation in the large district I'm close to. IIRC some of the colleges and universities are no longer recognizing the credits. There is no anti-gun curriculum being used anywhere close. There is a fair share of libbies but that's so in any district. The parents and the administrators are the ones setting the pace not them. I've already seen the texts for history and having checked for specific items, I have no complaints. I can see the trees just fine, those that make blanket statements such as yours I can't overlook.
Not talking cost here, talking more effective alternatives to arming the teachers.
They put metal detectors in the schools in Irving, TX years ago following an incident where a student brought a gun to school.
Most of these things are done at court houses for instance and no one says it's too expensive.
IIRC security here in ABQ schools are armed.
I realize that small districts and rural and parochial schools are at a disadvantage.
The Army trained me.
I was being fillpant. I have a Va. concealed carry permit and I try to go to my gun club's range about 3 times/year to sharpen my skill. Most, (not all mind you but the majority of them), of my seniors I would adopt--you can have every one of my freshmen and sophomores! I have to remind myself each day that it is just a phase and (most of them anyway) will soon grow into responsible citizens but I admit to plenty times of thinking that a good old fashioned "pistol whipping" (a la Wyatt Earp) would do them a lot of good!

School Districts used to try to prevent teachers etc from carrying but the AG but a stop to that stating all Gov't entities must allow CCW. The Univ. of Utah fought that in court and recently lost.

Yeah...I fully understand. It used to help me when I taught freshmen and juniors to write the letters ips in a corner of my board prior to the bad classes. My private little joke: Means Institute for Primate Studies. I teach mostly seniors and I teach the cream of the crop: Advanced Placement Government. Also Psychology and Sociology. Honors Economics. When I taught World History (Freshmen) I almost reverted to a state of pure army officer. That's a fairly large step. On my first day in the inner city some punk pops out of his chair and says: Hey Teach! What would you do if I just popped you in the face? I started laughing. The whole class is dead quiet...watching. The kid is stunned. I say: Well you'll take three trips. #1 is to the emergency room for multiple contusions and broken bones. #2 is to JAIL 'cause after I finish defending myself according to law and policy, I'll swear out a warrant. The last trip really isn't for you. It's your parents. See...I'll sue 'em for YOUR actions. I'll cost them 20K a year in legal fees for at least three years and they'll beat you every night of that time. NOW SIT DOWN! By this time the whole class is laughing so hard the tears are flowing. The punk sits and not another word is heard the rest of the year. He failed, but I knew that when he opened his mouth.
