In the wake of school shootings in Wisconsin, Colorado and Pennsylvania during the last two weeks, a Wisconsin state legislator said he plans to introduce legislation that would allow teachers, principals, administrators and other school personnel to carry concealed weapons.
Rep. Frank Lasee, R-Bellevue, said Wednesday that, while his idea may not be politically correct, it has worked effectively in other countries.
"To make our schools safe for our students to learn, all options should be on the table," he said.
"Israel and Thailand have well-trained teachers carrying weapons and keeping their children safe from harm. It can work in Wisconsin."
Lasee stressed that the measure would hinge on school staff members getting strict training on the use of the weapons.

Sure, there is the risk of misuse. But if the pattern follows the real world, guns in the hands of law abiding teachers will prevent more crime than they cause.

I second that.
We deserve a chance to fight back.
We might even get lucky, save the taxpayers some money, and off the perp.

Cost reduction.
I like it.

IMHO, the solution is to not have one's children attend public schools and encourage one's friends and neighbors to do the same.

Parents should protect their children - if we had more parents in the schools on a daily basis, maybe our children would learn something. I think the term for that is "home schooling".
To: truthingod
Agree with you.
I mean nuns and Amish school teachers aren't going to carry concealed weapons. And what about older boys disarming the teacher etc.?
Metal detectors and armed security force, premises locked down, ID badges should all be tried first.

I wonder if the seriously demented people who attack school kids would really care if teachers were armed or not .
I don't know . Packed halls of kids with teachers packing heat . Something about it doesn't sound good to me .

Liberal NEA teachers are afraid of guns. They will not get educated at a range nor do the background checks. These types will not carry.
If a perp knows that there might be a former Seal or marine with combat experience who is now a teacher or assistant principal, they might think twice.
Having a undefended campus is not working now.
Communities should start thinking about self defence.

Seems needed to me, but I doubt if it is allowed.

Okay, how is it right to deprive teachers of the means to defend themselves against some armed psychotic who doesn't care about gun prohibitions?

It may not be legal everywhere yet.
But " a small, well screened and trained percentage of school staffs having the ability to disarm mass murderers should be a good thing. "
