Attorney: Foley Was Molested as a Teen by a Clergyman
WASHINGTON Former Rep. Mark Foley was molested between the ages 13 and 15 by a clergyman, his attorney Mark Roth told reporters late Tuesday.
Foley also wants Americans to know that he is a gay man but he never had sexual contact with a minor, Roth said. Foley was admitted on Saturday night to a mental health facility, where he will remain for at least 30 days.
Roth said Foley wanted to release the name and religious affiliation where his alleged molestation occurred, but was advised by civil counsel to delay naming names at this time. However, details of the clergyman, the timeframe and the situation will be released when counsel advises Foley to do so.
At the least, it was alcohol induced mutual titillation/curiosity between participants, following to corruption of a minor, to (maybe likely) a setup by the minor.
Regardless, he deserves no mercy, for want of common sense, decency, and his oath of office.
I don't see a reason that the leadership should be held responsible unless they actually had the IMs, and it won't change my vote in November..
Just saw it on the MSM. Fox has a headline, but no details.
Foley's lawyer is admitting Foley is gay, and blaming it on molestation by a clerical personage.
Are we setting up the defense of criminal charges or what?
For the sake of his party, and his own defense, Foley needs to switch parties to the Dem.s right away. Then he can just walk like Barney Frank.
And a vegan, too, no doubt.
Well said LengendHasIt.
Sorry for the unasked for edit.
That's a nice shot. I never remember Jan looking that good. :-)
Hmmm ... did I post that earlier? Grew up Catholic in Mass., the time was right ... why not claim it?
Looked it up,family moved to FL. when he was three..
That was my first thought as well
"According to wiki, he tried running as a Democrat for a while and switched parties when that wasn't working out for him"
Interesting...
Being on Oprah is not the homosexual community rolling out the red carpet for him?
Victimological bullsh/t.
Welcome to Free Republic, and yes, we were all new at some point. Don't let it bother you!
I think this is looking really bad for gays and the gay agenda. Worse than for the Repubs.
Good.
I see.
Foley fatigue is setting in amongst the public and it'll only get worse as Dems and the media keep pushing.
The blame culture is very pervasive in our society.
Ah ... watch for a priest to be implicated before all is said and done.

McGreevey - Wow - super flame!
His wife must have known, the voters must have known!
How did he get away with it for so many years!
She was pretty cute in the last couple of seasons. That's me speaking from when I was a kid growing up watching it, not some Foley thing going on. She's older than me, at any rate. :)
Gays love him and they call the guy who said he was sexually harassed by him as a bs'er.

Why do you hate America?
And you know Frank had some pages, too...
Oh, where these bunny trails lead!
