Attorney: Foley Was Molested as a Teen by a Clergyman
WASHINGTON Former Rep. Mark Foley was molested between the ages 13 and 15 by a clergyman, his attorney Mark Roth told reporters late Tuesday.
Foley also wants Americans to know that he is a gay man but he never had sexual contact with a minor, Roth said. Foley was admitted on Saturday night to a mental health facility, where he will remain for at least 30 days.
Roth said Foley wanted to release the name and religious affiliation where his alleged molestation occurred, but was advised by civil counsel to delay naming names at this time. However, details of the clergyman, the timeframe and the situation will be released when counsel advises Foley to do so.
I'm glad to read your comments, because you get it.
When the pro-illegal-alien rallies backfired on the Democrats, they had to resort to other dirty tricks.
If the House falls into Democratic hands, watch out for Democratic Congressmen voting instant amnesty for the illegal aliens, especially the ones who voted on the fall election.
Dear Howlin,
"Where is the crime here? Can somebody tell me where the crime is if the facts are as we know them now, that he IM'd boys of legal age?"
Ironically, it appears that Mr. Foley would have been better off, legally-speaking, have actual sex with his correspondents.
Apparently, the age of consent in Washington, DC is 16.
However, Mr. Foley pushed hard for legislation that makes a felony out of prurient communications via the Internet with anyone under the age of 18.
Thus, chatting about it over the Internet appears to be a felony, but actually doing it is not.

Well, given most Floridians are from somewhere else, who's to say a Mass. parish didn't dump a bad priest or two on us?
He's in "good" company. That's close to the Amish killer's excuse today in a note he left behind.
Good grief. Could this story get any more revolting or pathetic?
Do everybody a favor Foley. STFU, crawl under a rock, and never ever EVER come out.
Neesh.
NOTICE: This scandal has officially "jumped the shark".
That's exactly right and the poster who said mccgreevey wasn't being embraced by the democrat base or homosexual lobby is mistaken.
The appearance on Oprah is nirvana to them.
Yep. This is just setting up for criminal defense. I'll bet whoever this priest "was" is long dead and conveniently unable to refute such charges - if he decides to throw someone under the bus.
Foley needs to just crawl under rock. A press conference with his lawyer only draws more attention to the scandal. He's already done enough damage to the GOP.
Good grief, give me a break...troll equals new member?
I agree. And it's especially infuriating b/c he associated himself with the RNC. He should have been true to what he was and joined the rats.
Do yourself a favor and read the whole thread...
You asked -- "Is there anyone left in America that hasn't been molested?"
Well, sometimes I wonder. Perhaps not. So, what does that do for everyone?

I looked now and it says he switched in the '80s. I think it said '90s yesterday, but there have been hundreds of changes made to the page in the past couple of days.

Very possible....I wonder where sicko Paul Shandley was at that time

The sexually explicit instant messages that were made public last Friday pre-dated the email Mr. Foley sent in 2005 which was the communication brought to the attention of the Republican leadership in 2005. The instant message two-way conversation happened in 2003.
It is possible that Mr. Foley never sent another sexually explicit instant message after he was interviewed and counseled by the Republican party authorities designated to do so. None of the Republican leadership had any knowledge of the 2003 instant messages.
The sloppy quality of reporting on this October surprise is almost as disappointing to me as Mr. Foley's behavior.
