Wish there was an ignore button. I'd take it personally, except that I see you act this way towards everybody. Guess it makes you feel powerful?

Disgusting, and I hope, if proven this is true after an investigation, he is charged and gets to go to jail. Damn congressman, preying on teens.

What a stupid idiot. And I am biting my tongue to not say what I am thinking, that sick pervert!!

That can be our only response: at least we make ours resign.

Whether consent age or not. This falls under the boss/employee category. Such as teacher/student. This kid was a page.

I think it depends on the courts and state law around elibility.

New Jersey was loose with the law and allowed Torricelli to be switched after the ballot deadline. Texas was tight with the law and refused to allow DeLay to be replaced. I can't say what Florida would do, but they sure were loose with the laws in 2000.

Also, the US Supreme Court refused to get involved in New Jersey. They may have second thoughts now that this is becoming a standard practice in more than one state -- to drive out an opponent after filing deadlines in order to win an unopposed race.

Waiting to hear more, but if he resigned, something very damaging is out there.

I agree that the WORST part is about what might have happened re: the page (s).

However, as a US citizen, I am also VERY upset that this could possibly put the House in the hands of the dems...which would lead to impeachment proceedings against my POTUS/CIC during a time at war.

Had this happened 6 mos from now...or 6 mos AGO....when the possible national security of this country isn't at stake...I would give ALL of my anger to the boy.

This might sound hyperbolic, about the consequences towards the election...and believe me, I hope I AM being hyperbolic..but, at this point, I don't know.

He's not married. Rather than spouting inanities all over this thread, why don't you research Mark Foley. You can start: here and then go here

My mistake.

Poor assumption on my part.

However the article that was posted did not mention his party affiliation.

A Dem with a 17 year old? Was reelected 5 times?

Well, we must be tolerant of Dem gays!

Ignore button is a DU feature. Go back to DU as I told you before. Eventually you will be banned.

I'm hardly a fan of the gay lifestyle, but saying that every single belief and aspect of your lifestyle must match up with that of your district is rediculous. Most Congressman are wealthier then the average person in their district, they are also usually better educated, etc.

Using your logic, no Mormon would hold office outside of Utah, no Catholic would hold office outside of New England, etc.

LOL, wow, I missed that "Hetros-who-have-anal-sex" constituency asking for civil rights protections! . . . Do they also have a Flag?

A brown circle on a field of white?

The only way for Foley to have survived this would have been to switch parties. Looks like he'd rather resign than become a democrat. I give him credit for that.
