Hi FRiends,
Just got off the phone with my hubby, FReeper whistlingpastthegraveyard. His sister's husband Jack, our brother-in-law is in surgery TODAY, RIGHT NOW undergoing a radical neck dissection for his stage 4 squamous cell cancer. We got some signals crossed and thought this was happening in another couple of weeks, but it's today, and apparently it's an "all day thing." He has already undergone radiation and chemo for the cancer, and is still fighting. I spoke with him this past weekend (at his son's football game!) and told him how proud we are that he is fighting still.
Please consider him in your prayers today.

Thank you for the update. Tomorrow I receive the results from a recent PET scan to see if my tumor has shrunk enough from radiation and chemo treatments for surgery to proceed. Prayers continue for Jack, Linda and all.

Thank you. My treatments have proceeded remarkably well and all I have is gratitude for how "easy" this has all been. I wish all in similar circumstances could say the same. I've been truely blessed.

Much belated update: My brother-in-law Jack has undergone repeated surgeries/treatments around his head and neck, and bravely continued to fight even when it seemed that with every step forward, he would be set back with the news that the cancer had progressed to a new location. This has additionally been very hard on his wife (my FReeper husband WhistlingPasttheGraveyard’s sister) and young sons as they all struggle to support him and spend as much time with him as possible.
Jack collapsed last night after complaining that he could not breathe. He was in full respiratory arrest with no oxygen for 10 mins when the ambulance arrived at the emergency room. At the hospital, he was revived into a coma, and later awoke with no signs of brain damage: he was responding to commands and is now talking. They are “cautiously optimistic” and it is as yet unknown if last night’s episode was cause by the head/neck cancers or an exacerbation of his asthma from the physical strain of everything he has undergone.
I humbly ask that you please continue to keep this family in your prayers. Thank you so much for the care you have shown in offering your support and thoughts for Jack and his family. I have no doubt that your prayers have given Jack and his family the gift of days. It is truly a miracle that he has come through such bleak diagnoses, and continues trying to keep a brave face in this painful fight.

Prayers and supplications going up. I have seen God heal people from worse (near death) on more than a few occasions. In fact one was a friend of mine this week.
What a terribly rough time they are going through.
You can be sure that they all will be in our prayers.
