I saw other references to the '88 speech. I actually saw that speech live. Or at least I think I did. Getting old and having CRS more frequently.:-) She may have been a democrat but she certainly wasn't cut from the traitorous piece of cloth of today's dimbulbs. Thank God for that!

You'll wake when the rapture comes, I reckon.

Until then: we live, we suffer, we appreciate quality when we see it.

Or not.

Sleep well.

Richards epitomized the strong Texas gal.

I'm sure there are many Texas FReeperettes who would disagree with you on that.

I'm sure there are many Texans who would disagree with you on that. I'm sorry to hear she passed, but she was one who couldn't make a decent comment about anyone other than another democrat. She loved X42 and his politics, and even defended his Monica problems.

A tough old bird. I'll miss her, even if she was a Democrat.

You could do a google search. I was told this by a pathologist as I observed him performing a post mortem back in the seventies.

I believe you... I just wondered if her heavy whiskey/alcohol drinking for decades could have had something to do with the cancer.

But thanks for replying.

Bingo! Anybody who remembers her cannot possibly fail to notice the similarity to Michael Moore -- outspoken, tell you what he thinks, piss and vinegar, won't back down, tough as nails, blah, blah, blah.

She was one of the best things to happen to America--her passion, her wit, her intelligence.

I would say this about Jeanne Kirkpatrick. She's my kind of tough, witty, smart lady.

iirc, that was directed towards George H W Bush, not his son. Anyway, although tasteless, the spirit of her hit on Bush Sr wasn't horribly far off. He definately won't be remembered as one of the finest Presidents. Just my 2 cents worth.

(Not to sound glib, but I've met both Kirkpatrick & Richards--& I think Richards wins all around as far as --well--tough, witty & smart)--but that's just me.

Well, I can't see how it helped matters any. I don't think one can ingest those substances for long periods and in large quantities without repercussions. Smokin' and drinkin' takes their toll...

I don't think it shows disrespect to remember her for her famous or infamous line.

She hoped it would bring down George Bush before he could become governor, and then president.

Reflecting on the character of a person...good or bad... is not disrespect.

They said it.....it's part of their legacy.

(An aside....can frmr Gov's go to the Tx State Cemetary in East Austin?)

Yep! I know for a fact John Connally is buried there because his wife was buried there beside him last week! I am pretty sure there are several other former Texas governors buried there.
