Buchanan-Matthews 2008? Chris Pleads With Pat to Take Back GOP From Neo-Cons

Don't laugh. If Lenora Fulani could flirt with Pat Buchanan in 2000, why not a Buchanan-Matthews ticket in 2008? After all, the pair share a powerful unifying distaste for neo-cons.

On this evening's Hardball, Matthews pleaded with Buchanan to take back the Republican party from neo-conservatives. Matthews:

"Pat, when are the traditional conservatives in this country who believe in less government, less role in the world, like yourself, though you might be more extreme than some, George Will, Bill Buckley, when are you guys going to retake your party from the neo-conservatives and stop these overseas campaigns?"

Buchanan: "I'll tell you, when you get a president of the United States who doesn't listen to them. And frankly you've got a president and a country that have been horribly burned by following this foolish ideology and I think in the future, Chris, quite frankly, it needn't to have happened - I think after Iraq you're not going to get a lot of adventures, although they are pushing for the Iranian thing as the last great cause."

Perhaps the two could convince Ralph Nader to accept an anticipatory appointment as Secretary of State, with Ned Lamont at Defense. Can you say 'unstoppable juggernaut'?

Please, spare us the laughter. Pat the puke is a joke. He has made comments in the past that he is not sure we should have fought WWII! Do you wish you were speaking German right now and had social values like Europe?

If so, stick your head back in the sand because that is where you will need to keep it if we lose this war on terror because some radical islamist may just want to saw your head off if you do not pray to Allah and GIVE UP ALL YOUR FREEDOMS.

It is obvious you ave allot of insight.

Call it what you want but truly don't you think that we may today be better if we listened to Pat?

Yea, right

Pat Buchanan is not even a Republican. He resigned from the party years ago.

Who cares what he thinks?

Pat's going to take back the party he left? LOL A party where the base is strongly backing this war and strongly backs the Jewish people and Israel? Yeah, I just don't see this anti-semite doing that Chris.

Pat Buchanan will be on WGST 640 AM Atlanta tomorrow morning. Probably sometime between 7 and 8 AM.

I am sure he will get all the ignorant, isolationist, anti-semites listening that still respect Pat. He will probably get a dozen or so listeners.

The way Pitchfork Pat and Chrissy Matthews both hate the President, the lovefest is both predictable and nauseating.

Anyone that differs with GW is nauseating. (Good). Anyone that questions a (R) behind their name is nauseating - correct? If so please join the DU dummies as there is not much different. READ SLOWLY & COMPREHEND. GW HAS SCREWED UP THE MIDDLE EAST - NOT BY GOING TO WAR WHICH WAS CORRECT BUT BY DOING SUCH WITH HIS POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. THRU HIM VIA CONDI WHO NOW IS A LAUGHING STOCK WE HAVE LOST THE EDGE TO SAVE THIS NATION FROM THOSE FITHLY RAGHEADS. His allegience with the New World Order of not protecting a secure border will allow the scum commie/lib/socialist party to probably take the majority in the 2008 election - this is what the elites wanted because they can not allow a true conservative agenda to succeed. Condi Rice calls the Hezbos a militia. She deserves a firing today. Whos Homeland Security is it that allows CAIR to inspect our procedures at airports such as O'Hara? Smell the coffee! This administration is a screw-up (admitted less than the commie branch of this "Two-Party Cartel" but still a screw-up. They have the transnationalist interests ahead of us taxpaying/ God-fearing/hardworking people that make this country what it is.

I care what lots of people who aren't Republican think, but I don't care what Arlen Specter thinks.

Absolutely! He's a fantastic reverse barometer.

There is a world of difference between stating the opinion, that we should not have interfered in WW I, thereby creating a power imbalance in Europe. Causing the Germans to be stripped of dignity and land, leading directly to the rise of Nazism, and extreme racism, and saying we should not have fought WW II. Pat posits, that if we would have stayed out of WW I, Britain, France and Germany would have settled sooner or later, and the balance of power would not have become so one sided, leading to Hitler. It is a very persuasive argument.

Our country has, and should be funded by tariffs on imports and exports. Of course those that are against them, will always throw up the boogey man of "Smoot Hawley" causing the great depression.

Pat is not even 'conservative' any more in my book, he has become a kook.

Still, I will vote for politicians who believe in less spending, less government et al.

If they aren't on the ballot I will not vote.

"Matthews pleaded with Buchanan to return the GOP to the parody the Dems could regularly portray as racist, bigoted, homophobic, intelectually vapid Bible thumpers."

That's what Dems portray Republicans, especially conservatives, as right now.
