NICOLE Kidman has made a public stand against terrorism.
The actress, joined by 84 other high-profile Hollywood stars, directors, studio bosses and media moguls, has taken out a powerfully-worded full page advertisement in today's Los Angeles Times newspaper.
It specifically targets "terrorist organisations" such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine.
"We the undersigned are pained and devastated by the civilian casualties in Israel and Lebanon caused by terrorist actions initiated by terrorist organisations such as Hezbollah and Hamas," the ad reads.
"If we do not succeed in stopping terrorism around the world, chaos will rule and innocent people will continue to die.
"We need to support democratic societies and stop terrorism at all costs."
A who's who of Hollywood heavyweights joined Kidman on the ad.
The actors listed included: Michael Douglas, Dennis Hopper, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Danny De Vito, Don Johnson, James Woods, Kelly Preston, Patricia Heaton and William Hurt.
Directors Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Michael Mann, Dick Donner and Sam Raimi also signed their names.
Other Hollywood powerplayers supporting the ad included Sumner Redstone, the chairman and majority owner of Paramount Pictures, and billionaire mogul, Haim Saban.
I am indeed the man. :-) /jk
Have a great night.
You paint with a broad brush. I'm living in no cartoon but you apparently are.
If I'm to be suspended for my beliefs then so be it. My beliefs are:
Israel has a right to defend itself.
The Israeli government has not conducted itself well in this most recent war against Hezbollah/Iran/Syria.
Many Jews in America are Liberal.
Many Jews in America don't support the "War On Terror" (I felt I needed to spell 'WOT' out for you).
Many in the Hollywood community (which includes a prominent Jewish presence) don't support the WOT or the Bush Administrations conduct thereof.
The above statement is not useful of itself. It is meant to give insulation to those in Hollywood who feel they have to make a statement that is pro Israel.
Israeli's should fire the Olmert government and put in place a government that will defend Israel properly.
There. That's the last time I'll defend myself to you or anyone else over this. If you don't like what I've said in this or other posts on this thread, then GTH!
Thanks, Hair, and good on you, HKM.
As many of you know, Patricia Heaton is a solid conservative, and a conservative Catholic. I can testify to this from personal experience.
She rocks. Cute, too.
My two cents in the discussion, about the Aussies...there is a church based in Sydney/NSW called Hillsong Church. Their pastor is Brian Houston (who used to, and I guess still does, bear a striking resemblance to Nicolas Cage), and their worship leader is Darlene Zschech (pronounced "check"), who has written many contemporary praise songs.
Long story short, some of their praise team would always do a US tour of praise around the end of summer, and they were actually travelling in the U.S. when 9/11 happened. Their last church visit was in West Covina, about a week after 9/11, and I heard that it was one of the most moving times. When they returned the next year, we were glad to hear that their military was proudly serving alongside ours in the War on Terror.
I guess Australia must really be a good ally in the WOT, if Flipper's sister (Diana Kerry) was down there a few years ago, trying to campaign against their PM.
Ah, it's been awhile. Niven is one of my favorites. Somebody needs to make a movie of "Legacy of Heorot."
Listen, porkpie, if you're going to go around saying someone only does good things because they're sucking up to "Jewish financiers," it's your own fault. Suck it up.
I'm not saying that some like Jim Woods aren't conservatives or haven't supported the WOT. I'm saying that the others are using this as an opportunity to put themselves in the public's eye as 'good fellas'. Let's not be fooled by it.
We certainly do, although my husand thinks my freckles are cute. I don't get it. I don't like 'em.
Sometimes freckles can be cute. But when they look like a spotty tan... ;-)
Bought a large ad in your local paper to thank the troops lately?
Any idea how many USO tours and pro-troop appearances these people have made time for? How sure are you that none of them send stuff over? Sandler just donated large sums off money to Israel for relief, and Sinise collects stuff fo soldiers and stuff for them to distribute to Iraqi kids.
The bottom line is that these people did the opposite of what the rest of the Hollywood scum are doing, and your first thought was to condemn it.
Here's a wedding photo of Nicole and Keith Urban. They married this year, I believe.

Classy!
For some reason I've gotten flack from some here for my comments. That's fine. But we can't forget that Israel is the REAL front line against terrorism. What we've defined through our overthrow of Iraq and Afghanistan is second theater (to the Israelis), although the main front to us.
I've read elsewhere that Israel's existence isn't what really drives terrorism. Well, who knows whether that's true or not. It's not really important in the long run. Israel exists. Israel's existence is important to the West's survival. If anything, the West must continue to support Israel if it is to continue to dominate global culture. 'Nuff said!
Sort of like "Dave" with its "right to a job" speech, with the difference being that "Dave" was a good movie despite the lib crap contained therein.
God bless the Aussie troops!!!
That p****d me off that Kerry's spawn went down there and tried to gin up trouble, for us as well as Howard. Where do they get off doing that?!
Thanks for sharing!
Unicorn zero one, Silverback three zero did not receive, message garbled, say again.
Who's Kidman, man? No Kidding! Carnies speak, dogs chasing the wagons bark back!
2. I don't suck it up very well.
3> They're sucking it up because they know where there bread is buttered; and it's not through the Imans!
Get it?
