Dorothy Ray Healey, 91, a former longtime leader in the American Communist Party who moved to Washington in 1983 to help raise her grandchildren and who hosted a weekly radio show on WPFW (89.3 FM), died of respiratory failure and pneumonia Aug. 6 at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington in Rockville.
Mrs. Healey, once known as "the Red Queen," embraced the Communist Party in Los Angeles at 14 and rose through the ranks, becoming chairwoman of the Communist Party USA in Southern California. A labor organizer, civil rights activist and radio commentator, she remained a party faithful until 1973, long after she had begun to disagree with its orthodoxy and criticized it publicly

Riding the bus to work on Friday, I saw the guy in front of me reading the WaPo. And what should my wondering eyes should appear, but a 1/2 page, 1000 word (w/ picture) obituary of Dorothy Ray Healey, former longtime leader in the American Communist Party.
News/noteworthy? Maybe as a footnoted person to a footnoted belief relegated to the dustbin of history, but 1-0-0-0 glowing words? "... a charismatic figure and skilled organizer..." "...a mentor to many young communists."
OH PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE.
And this was not a "submitted and written by" obit but rather an obit written by the WaPa obit writer.
Hmmm. More evidence of their default. (Sigh)
The only good commie...
WPFW (89.3 FM)
That stands for "We're Public Field Workers", I kid you not.
Will Ned Lamont be at the funeral?
Now she's both.........
Congrats on a wasted life, Ms. Healey!
Unbelievable!
For the WaPo to have an enormous obit on this woman says something about the WaPo. No question.
Good riddens.

Sooo...she's a lot like Stalin.
Neat.
And apparently stayed right there.
..certainly no loss to freedom loving Americans!
This just about sums up the problem with the American Left. They are unable to make moral distinctions. That a woman who led a life of support for Che, Castro, Stalin, Mao, et al could at the end of her life be treated as a public heroine says it all.
I suppose she too, was a victim of George W. Bush.
They're all dying off.
Good.
Apologies if I double posted. I was shocked... SHOCKED that there was pro-communist leanings at the WaPo.
For every one that dies, there are ten born. It's a mistake to think time will make the threat go away. The pulic school system alone is capaple of making millions. Hope I didn't ruin your day.
When Hillary dies, they can just dust off the same headline for her obit.
