The only thing Syria could hope for would be to deliberately sacrifice the troops in such a manner in order to stir up the world opinion against Israeli "barbarism." What do you think?

I don't know if that would be worth the 'gain'. They are already way ahead by laying low and shuffling munitions to Hezbollah covertly. Plus, some of the reservists called up have been placed on the Golan, IIRC.

The only thing they might try is if a stratigic attack, such as a WMD, is launched against Israel and they try to exploit the turmoil to regain the Golan. Theres only 9 more shopping days until the 22nd.

Oooooh good point. Hasn't it been theorized that Syria was the main recipient of the Iraqi WMD's? Think they have the capability to maintain and use those?

Hmm. Charles and his successors (particularly his grandson) carved out a chunk of the globe that looks a bit larger than current-day France.

The Franks had a *Germanic* empire which replaced the Roman Empire in Western Europe. Only a part of that territory would become today's France, and long after Charles the Hammer was gone. In short, he was *not* French, and the French don't seem inclined to claim him anyway.

Why is it not good? There is no better time to take on the real enemy. US military next door to East (where Syria has been supporting the Baathists) and the I.A.F.

We also made a bunch of agreements with Israel, including ensuring indefinite parity with Saudi jetfighters, and allowing Israel to designate 100 targets in Iraq for US bombing.

If they have one and launch it, they know that Israel will be stopped from retailiating because of the oil."

I don't see that anything would stop Israel from retaliating for a nuke attack. Even if (let's pray) any such ballistic missiles are taken out by Arrow missiles before they can hit Israel, I would expect any government of Israel to obliterate Iran's major military, nuclear, and governmental installations with both nuclear and non-nuclear retaliation.

Actually, if the Mullahs go off that cliff I would expect that any US government would act to end the Iranian Mullahocracy and military once and for all.

It could be the Syrians are clearing out their own land mines near the Golan since they are planning another invasion of Israel. These schnooks never learned anything from their defeats in 67, & 73, even when the Russians were greatly assisting Syria's murderous wars against Israel.

So it is the US' fault that Olmert screwed around with half measures for 3 1/2 weeks before launching a full attack?

Friday was a shameful act of appeasement by Rice. Bush needs to come out, support Israel, and tell Rice to STFU on her 'diplomacy works' crap.

Do you REALLY think that Rice went out on a limb alone with this diplomacy farce? You can guarantee she didn't utter a word that wasn't approved in advance by GW and his administration. A puppet is a puppet....

Well, a 100 megaton device would create way too much fallout to pollute surrounding nations and even contribute to a "nuclear winter" effect in that area of the planet.

Hmmmmm... maybe such a nuclear winter is the answer to "Global WArming"...heheheh. The good-ole "two birds with one stone" comes to mind...
