A friend and his family just returned from London. It took them three days. When I have time, I'll tell a longer story. After 40 hours with almost no sleep, he was only up to giving me a few tidbits.
- He, his wife, and three sons were trapped in some kind of a tunnelway near the boarding area. He says there were thousands of people stuck with him.
- they were there for 5 hours without access to food or drinks. It was essentially unventilated and people were throwing up. People were complaining and screaming, and kids were crying. They had no idea what was going on.
- a little later they finally got some word of the terrorist threat. They saw people with automatic weapons and TV cameras storming the airport.
- I don't know if he said it was Gatwick or in Newark, but some employees couldn't handle it and walked off the job
- in Newark, people went behind the counter and actually were checking in their own luggage. When autorities showed up, they shut that down, told people it was a federal crime, and ordered baggage removed from many flights.
I guess Michael Moore saying, "There is no terrorist threat" doesn't apply now. Ya think?
I would have gone one step further. After 9-11, if you are here on a visa, from ANY country, that visa is revoked and you have 36 hours to leave the United States. If you do not comply, you will be tossed in jail for a minimum of two years and will be immediately deported upon your release.
Once you are in your home country, you may re-apply for a visa to come back. Visa applications could take five years to process.
Racial Profiling. Because of political correctness and the fear of offending a few, EVERYONE is now inconvenienced and forced to comply to new rules and regulations. Ah, for the good old days of air travel. One more huge kick into the gut of the already suffering airline industry.
Racial Profiling. Do it. Now. Screw political correctness.
It seems most people don't understand.
Anyone in the United States WHO IS NOT A CITIZEN is privileged to be here AT THE PLEASURE OF THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Not the Congress, not the President, not some two bit corporation, not some CAIR PAC group, NOBODY ELSE.
The people of the United States of America.
And we have every right to put them on a slow boat to wherever if we chose.
Oops. To own your knees is good. On your knees is better.:')
So if a group of five Muslim men in their twenties decided to "take care of themselves" and go behind the counter and check their own baggage, you would be OK with that?
That's not much of a horror story. A bit of ordeal perhaps.
Now if his flight had blown up in mid-air - now that would have been a horror story.
"Sounds like Lebanon right now with all the main roads bombed, so people Hezbollah terrorists can't get out, electricity's off and medical responders - and food deliverers - can't get in."
There, I fixed that typo for you.
Number 2, I agree. But he might have a case for Number 1--- since a full bladder may qualify as a "liquid container", and get him rejected from the plane...?
: )
"Sounds like Lebanon right now with all the main roads bombed, so people Hezbollah terrorists can't get out, electricity's off and medical responders Syrian and Iranian weapons experts - and food Katyusha deliverers - can't get in."
There, I fixed that typo for you.
//Corrected version
***I think his friend and his family ought to be own their knees in gratitude that they are here and not scattered over the ocean.***
Do you hear sort of a hollow sound? That's me...echoing what you said. Thank you, Brits and MI5.
It's not ARABS that are the problem; many of them are Christian. It is radical MUSLIMS that are the problem, and much of the funding for them is coming from Iran, which is PERSIAN, not Arab.
Did I say anything of the sort? Was it even remotely close to what you just extruded? No!! Dont go looking for a fight were there isnt one.
I kept watching that thing expecting a bomb to fall, or lightning to strike, or SOMETHING. :)
They said there were long lines, but obviously that is a huge, huge understatement.
Huge understatement.
3 DAYS!
I disagree.
***I kept watching that thing expecting a bomb to fall, or lightning to strike, or SOMETHING. :)***
LOL! Only in our dreams does lightning strike the Kumbayah people.
The difference being, Dou'gs friend didn't put terrorists into office or support terrorists. The lebanese chose unwisely...
