A friend and his family just returned from London. It took them three days. When I have time, I'll tell a longer story. After 40 hours with almost no sleep, he was only up to giving me a few tidbits.
- He, his wife, and three sons were trapped in some kind of a tunnelway near the boarding area. He says there were thousands of people stuck with him.
- they were there for 5 hours without access to food or drinks. It was essentially unventilated and people were throwing up. People were complaining and screaming, and kids were crying. They had no idea what was going on.
- a little later they finally got some word of the terrorist threat. They saw people with automatic weapons and TV cameras storming the airport.
- I don't know if he said it was Gatwick or in Newark, but some employees couldn't handle it and walked off the job
- in Newark, people went behind the counter and actually were checking in their own luggage. When autorities showed up, they shut that down, told people it was a federal crime, and ordered baggage removed from many flights.
I guess Michael Moore saying, "There is no terrorist threat" doesn't apply now. Ya think?
ugh.
How awful!
Kinda makes Chuckie Schumer sound like a whining sissy, doesn't it?
how horrible! glad they, finally, made it home
pls "go national" w/this story
~~~~snicker~~~~~
Up Chuck Schumer IS a whining sissy!
Newark as in NJ??
Chuck should be thanking his lucky stars that the british police system is freer to combat terrorism than ours. The Terrorists had the word to strike that day not two weeks from now as originally planned. Chuckie would be dead today if not for MI5.
Ping me with the full story please and thank you.
Yeah; the Newark in England (Nottingham) doesn't have an airport.
We currently travel to Europe twice a year for a few weeks (this fall it will be 6 weeks), and we fly around the continent while there. It was complicated enough due to luggage and secrutiy restrictions of European airlines, now it will be even more of an ordeal to travel. Does anyone know if they even allow paperback books on planes going to and from England and other countries? They did not on the day the terrorists were arrested. But our sacrifices as travelers are for a good cause, safety...We can't really complain about that!
Yes, federal law was being violated in Newark.
In Newark, they are always doing stuff like that.
look on the brite side,
non, or at least not yet.
Sars or Bird Flu
There is a Newark, England.
LOL! I'm waiting with bated breath for his weekly "face time" press conference tomorrow..... not. OY!
God Bless the Brits & MI5!
There is also now a Londonistan.
For all those naysayers, "AND you still don't believe that we're at war with the islamic terrorists?"
That sure was a horrific ordeal for those traveling that day. It's good to know your friends finally arrived safely.
Thanks, I was unaware of that.
