A major terrorist plot to blow up planes in mid-flight has been disrupted by police, Scotland Yard says.
It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled on board aircraft in hand luggage.
During the night, police arrested a number of people in London after a counter-terrorist operation they said had lasted several months.
Police believe the attacks would have been particularly targeted at flights from the UK to the US.
The Department for Transport said security at all UK airports has been increased.
Passengers on all flights will not be allowed to take any hand luggage on to any flights in the UK.
Only the barest essentials - including passports and wallets - will be allowed to be carried on board in transparent plastic bags.
The only reason I don't have a lifesize baboon trophy in my house is because I find them hard to kill. They are fairly bright and -- IMHO -- will test one's view of things as a hunter. Point is, this woman is not as bright as a bit of taxidermy I've considered putting near the bear and goat in the living room.
My Grandson is flying in from New York today and flying to HongKong in Sept. we were planning a trip to London in Nov.
did I mention I HATE terroists!! Here we go again with fears about flying now!
There is that. It could be worse.
They got their visas to attend University and didn't show..Back to Egypt as soon as they are all found I hope!
(((stopem)))
9/11, 7/7 a possible 8/11 then 8/22...Does seem....strange. Looks like Moo Moos message may be delayed now.
I can see a day when you have to strip naked, submit to a cavity search, then don a bathrobe to get on a plane.
I'm sure the Lamont voters have already blamed Bush for this.
Yes, that's true.
Don't even corked bottles have a safety seal around them (as in cellophane, plastic, etc.)?
The religion of PIECES strikes again.
The religion of the brainless, heartless & the literally demon possessed rages on.
Muslims will never go for that.
I'd call them savages but this doesn't go far enough.
Muslims can ride bicycles or walk!!
samplings include:
"its the thought police again"
"it's a Bush/Blair plot to keep everyone afraid"
"It's a ploy to disrupt any ceasefire in Lebanon"
I also saw some 'sane' person who did a bullets type post showing the typical thinking there
ie:
* its all a plot to put down "brown" people,
*Bush is behind all plots of terror,
*there is no such thing as islam terrorism...
*the R's are behind all of this and the sheeple must be made afraid
etc etc...

Dick Clarke just confirmed what I supposed...that the planes might be over USA soil before they blew up instead of merely over the Atlantic.
The consensus being that "evidence" proved Lockerbie...but the terrorists don't care if they leave evidence.

Anti-Israeli Cyberterrorist Attacks Planned for Tomorrow By Evan Kohlmann
Participants on key Arabic-language Al-Qaida chat forums on the Internet have announced their intent to launch collective cyberterrorist attacks tomorrow, August 10, aimed at interrupting or denying service to other pro-Israeli websites--namely the "Internet Haganah" cyberterror watchdog site run by Aaron Weisburd.
Good time for those interested in this conflict to bookmark the alternate Free Republic site, here:

Works very well for me.
Read somewhere in the last year or so some report of a prophetic sort of Christian asserting that God impressed on them that HE was not happy that the USA had let in so many idolatrous people hostile to Him and His priorities into our country . . . that we were going to reap accordingly eventually. Seems far too true, to me.
Those are sold too, for home bottlers of stuff like potpourri. All else needed is handheld hair dryer or heat gun.
We musn't profile...It's...it's....not nice.
The worrying part is this is not over... there are many more Ramzis out there, and they each only have to succeed once. We have to stop all of them, every time. All while our limited resources are currently being thrown in directions where the cost benefit aspects make little sense.
