I was at a meeting with a bunch of Michigan liberals the other day, and they were all raggin on Bush, the country ect. Me being the only conservative at the table, I kept my mouth shut, but I did hear one lady say that she thinks Jack Hoogendyke (sp?) is going to be our next Lt. Governor. I found that odd that she would say that, because she is a huge Dem, and I would think that she would want Jenny to win.
but I think Hoogendyke just wants his job in the congress for now. But maybe DeVos will decide to pick him, I dunno.

Tim Walberg should win that easily on Nov.8th in the 7th district. Thanks for the vote of optimism.
I'm getting daily 4-color mailings from the campaign. So is wife, separately. That's a rather intense campaign, I'm impressed.
Have you heard these 3rd party 'spending fiesta' ads against Schwarz on radio?
This is news, a conservative going after a RINO in Washtenaw? Got to love it!
Thanks for the post/link on the state board.
Here is the geography:

I live in Salem, that weird easternmost township. It's extremely conservative here, and the fact that this township sticks out bigger than MI's thumb is no accident.
Can't wait for the fun after the next census when we lose another seat or two and carving takes place with sharper knives.

I'm getting mailings from both campaigns on a regular basis too, and I'm in Waterloo (NE Jackson County, Grass Lake mailing).
According to the CitPat, Schwartz played this "funding card" before. He uses it when he's sensing a loss, so this is a good sign for we conservatives.
Go Tim, Go!

The 7th district also covers all of Hillsdale county!
You would have to search Utah to find more conservative than that...lol.

I've been really impressed with what I've read about Butler, and I'll likely be voting for him in the primary as well. Nothing against Bouchard, I just really liked the one line from his tv ad about government helping only when folks really need it. Just one line, but it was a "hey, he gets it" moment for me.

Getting rid of Little DebbieShe's little, now that's news, lol! That's cute sarcasm for dumber than a cow...
I think the primary turnout in this race will be less than passionate and that will tell us a lot on who cares come November.
DeVos seems to have nailed it - and let's not forget the GOP owes wife Betsy a few nickels.
I'm hoping the numbers will change once we have a 'candidate.'

I went to a press announcement today...Zandstra has now endorsed Butler. One of his reasons seemed to be about some questionable campaign spending in the Bouchard camp. I don't know if that's true and I'm not going to trash the man...but I agree with all of you, Butler is the guy who can rid us of Stabenow.
I encourage all of you to talk a few more people to getting out to vote for Butler next week. They said today that polls show a statistical dead heat with Bouchard.

I would agree with you but in a close primary race it might make a difference, particularly over here (Grand Rapids area) where Zandstra has a pretty passionate following.

I know he has a passionate following in the area. I am in Muskegon. I was VERY disappointed in how the Zandstra's campaign operated. The words "Sour Grapes" come to mind.

I think if Butler does get the nomination next Tuesday, you will see Stabacow's lead shrink to nothing, and the RATS will go into panic mode.
Right or wrong, Butler being Black will be a factor with the Black voters and there will be NOTHING the RATS can do to counter that.
What is Stabacow going to do? Call him a Uncle Tom?...lol
She will have nothing to run on but the issues, and she will be juggling chainsaws if she tries running attack ads.
The RATS weren't worried about that race before, but they thought Butler had no chance of winning the nomination.
Next Tues will be a fun night, I hope lots of Michigan FReepers will be online to discuss the results.
