DEARBORN, Mich., July 27 (UPI) -- With a population of nearly 30,000 Lebanese-Americans, the Detroit suburb of Dearborn, Mich., is coming under intense scrutiny from federal investigators.
The reason is that in Dearborn many residents see no contradiction between being a loyal American and backing Hezbollah in its war with Israel, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Watching the fighting going on in the Middle East, the Tribune says many in Dearborn feel betrayed and unfairly targeted by the U.S. government.
Last May the owner of a chain of 15 restaurants called La Shish was indicted for tax evasion, accused of using a double set of books so he could funnel some $20 million to Hezbollah.
Talal Chahine fled to Lebanon to avoid prosecution but reportedly has denied any wrongdoing.
His case of one of several that link Americans with smuggling operations of illicit drugs, cigarettes and baby formula to profit Hezbollah, designated a terrorist group by the U.S. State Department.

You can add Granholm, Levin, Stabenow, Conyers, Kilpatrick and a host of clowns in the State Senate and State House.
In June of 2006, Michigan lost 64,000 jobs. Outside of Louisiana and Missisppi (Katrina), Michigan has the worst job creation growth. Granholm was on the campaign trail boasting of Google opening up a place in Ann Arbor (figures) and bringing 1,000 jobs in. Sorry Granholm-they're not going to be hiring Michigan residents. And Michigan ranks 2nd in the country for U-Haul rentals....people are getting out of the state.

Lady! You are the best!
Your best bet is to go into Dearborn.
In the early part of the 20th century, Arabs and other immigrants began assembling Fords in Highland Park, situated within metropolitan Detroit. When the company moved to Dearborn in 1924, many of the Arabs, mainly Shiite from South Lebanon, moved with the company to the South End. Palestinian Muslims joined them after the 1948 war and the creation of the state of Israel. In the 1960s, large numbers of Arabs, including Yemeni Muslims, immigrated. The Lebanese civil war and other Middle East wars in the 1970s and 1980s brought still more Arab immigrants to Dearborn , with the fallout of the Gulf War bringing up to 5,000 Iraqi refugees.
Let's hope you never bought a Ford vehicle.
Only with a rat president and if his wife had large "attributes".
You should try one in Beirut...;-)
That will have to happen, eventually.
Good tip, thanks...
Dearborn is my home town and that of Henry Ford... I used to bicycle around the old Ford mansion long before it was ever a tourism interest by the stinky old Rouge River...
Last time I visited the area, I went to Greek Town... The food was fantastic and the Cypriot beer was one of the few I will actually drink...
What really bugged me was the patrols of Wayne County sheriff's deputies walking the beat downtown Detroit in gangs of six or seven. Why not Detroit PD??? Have things gotten so bad that the municipal police have just walked away? (Detroit is another Democrat corrupted filth pit.)
Another place I love is Frankenmuth. That family style, all you can eat chicken dinner at Zender's is always a must on my itinerary... Those Germans know how to eat...
I fondly remember Camp Dearborn as a younger child, but it was taken over by the Islamic thugs by the time I got to be a teenager.
The same sort of thing happened to the Greenfield Village. Now instead of actually being able to walk around in some of the old buildings, they have plexiglass partitions and alarms to keep people from stealing the artifacts.
Under the same law that they used to deport Mafia chietains
