You all might find this damn funny, but my sorry ass is marooned in Beirut, where I have been working for the IMF. If anybody has any helpful suggestions on how I can get out of this war zone, I would be most grateful. Right now, the road to Syria is the only way out of Lebanon for anyone, including U.S. citizens, and the Israelis are bombing that road. I am NOT happy with the Israelis right now. I understand their concerns about their kidnapped soldiers but bombing the Beirut Airport was not going to help them in any way.

They ALWAYS have an evac plan on the shelf, right down to specific collection points. Every embassy has one.

rebel_yell, I love ya, but I still support Israel's strikes 100%. Tough times can be tough on us little fish sometimes, but they're still doing the right thing.

You have GOT to be joking! Syria use the Beirut airport? Now THAT would be justification for bombing, and it's only about ten minutes for the IAF to get here. There was no rush.

At times like this, Reb, the unthinkable becomes real. I have no doubt that Syria would try to get a plane in there if they thought it would stir the pot more.

Here is a good school of thought for you. First: Stay right were you are, get yourself at least 5 days of supplies, your ID and papaers with you and keep filling the tube with water as long as the water last.
Second: If Israel does invade and you are trap,leave your location in the day light, slow approach the Israeli position with your ID papers in your right hand plams up, ID yourself as an American and they will get you out of the warzone. Yes you might be pissed at them but the Israelis are your best bet.
Don't blame Israel, rebel_yell2. Who put the gun to your head to make you travel to Hizbollahstan?

Bombing the civillian airports is essential when a civillian airliner can be used as an improvised cruise missile... I thought we understood this in general since 911?
