I think we can post this part here:
....
Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has rejected Western demands that he respond to a new proposal regarding the cessation of Irans nuclear efforts by the middle of this month.
To the consternation of officials in Europe and Washington, Ahmadinejad promised only to respond by the end of the Iranian month of Mordad (August 22).
http://www.zionist.com/2006/07/08/why-august-22
I would agree, except that Syria has now reversed itself and pledged full support to hizbolla. Interesting how quiet the Arab world is about all of this right now. Its LOUD. I think Syria realizes it is in the middle of something it is not prepared for, complements of Iran.
, Thanks Cindy. If Syria twitches the slightest they won't know what hit them.
Yep, I think they were caught offguard and didn't have their military poised to take advantage of the situation or offer much support tactically. I think the partnership between Baathist Syria and Islamomadness Iran is very unequal. If they start moving ground units towards Israel/Lebanon, it will get ugly quick. They must have gotten strong words of confidence (or a few lbs off the glutimus max) to get backbone again to issue this statement.
Are they moving ground units towards the area and generally mobilizing?
Thanks Ian.
How very sad Jer33 3.
Thanks for that update.
Gotcha...will adjust my prayers.
Thank you Velveeta.
Peach Tree made my Smyrna list.
Thank you Mossad1967.
Iraqi forces take over full control of southern province
Snip: Iraq took full control of a province from foreign troops for the first time since the 2003 US-led invasion on Thursday, but clashes in Baghdad underlined the security challenges facing the new government. Addressing a ceremony to mark the handover of southern Muthanna province from British-led troops to Iraqis, Iraq's prime minister warned that insurgents would try to stage attacks to mar a day "written with golden letters in Iraq's history."
"Terrorists who want to disrupt the handover of security and the success of the national unity government will not spare any effort to sabotage this step," Nuri al-Maliki said in the provincial capital, Samawah, 270 kilometers south of Baghdad.
Snip: I doubt it. But early tomorrow morning, Middle Eastern time, the Syrian government pledged its assistance to the terrorists who have attacked Israel...
UAE and Syria agree to start removing trade barriers
Snip: Officials from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Syria have voiced their firm determination to remove obstacles hindering the easy flow of bilateral trade exchange to maintain close trade co-operation.
UN fails to agree on Middle East action
Snip: In New York, the United Nations Security Council has convened an emergency meeting to discuss the crisis, but it was unable to agree on concrete action.
Snip: CAIRO: A UN delegation led by Vijay Nambiar, political advisor to the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and his envoy to Lebanon, arrived here yesterday from New York, starting a shuttle in the region to stop the current deterioration in Lebanon. The UN delegation includes Annan's envoy for implementation of UN resolution 1559 Terje Roed-Larsen and peace envoy Alpha Rodi Soto. UN Media center Manager here Maher Naser told newsmen that Annan decided to dispatch the delegation with the aim of containing the escalation in the region and maintaining tranquillity. He said the delegation will have talks with Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abulgheit and the Arab Foreign Ministers who are holding an emergency meeting here. He cleared out that the UN delegation will later visit Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and return to Cairo before flying back to New York to report to the UN Secretary General.
Snip: The Foreign Operations Appropriations Act, FY2006, signed by the President as P.L. 109-102, on November 14, 2005, repeats previous bans on U.S. aid to Syria but contains a provision authorizing at least $6,550,000 for programs to support democracy in Syria and Iran. The aid ban appears again in the House version of the Foreign Operations Appropriation Act, FY2007 (H.R. 5522).

"Jihadis Adapt to Counter-Terror Measures and Create New Intelligence Manuals"
By Abdul Hameed Bakier
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Islamist websites are filled with security manuals and training information for jihadi militants. These manuals are often posted on forums sympathetic to violent Islamists, and the visitors to the forums are able to ask questions to different jihadi security experts regarding fighting tactics and intelligence strategies. In intelligence training and sharing practices, the jihadi sites have posted three significant documents: the Great Jihad Encyclopedia, a letter from al-Qaeda operative Abu Yahia al-Libi and a document titled "How to Confront and Cope with Intelligence Agency Interrogators."
The Great Jihad Encyclopedia
It is not clear when the Great Jihad Encyclopedia was prepared, but it was originally released in 2002. The encyclopedia is a manual on security and intelligence techniques collected from different sources and from experienced jihadi militants. The encyclopedia is broken up into different sections spanning 70 pages, and the sections suggest that the document was prepared from the archives of the renowned services office Maktab al-Khidamat in Pakistan (the Afghan Services Bureau). Maktab al-Khidamat was, essentially, a guesthouse rented by Osama bin Laden in 1984 in Peshawar to receive and organize Arab mujahideen volunteering in the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan [1]. The Great Jihad Encyclopedia was written by "Abu al-Qaidan."

"Man Claimed Wife Planned to Blow Up Plane, Police Say"
nbc6.net
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A South Florida man faces charges after authorities said he falsely told Air France employees his wife planned to blow up a plane.
Air France flight 95 was supposed to leave on Saturday afternoon from Miami International Airport. But a few minutes before it was scheduled to take off, a man went to the Air France ticket counter and said that his wife, who was onboard, planned to blow up the plane, NBC 6's Martha Sugalski reported.
All 400 passengers onboard were evacuated. Investigators found the woman, who was traveling to Lebanon, and questioned both her and her husband.
FBI agents said that during the interview, they determined that the woman never made any type of threat and instead arrested her husband, Jean-Marc Bollinger.
Investigators said the woman wanted a divorce and wanted to go to Lebanon with the couple's daughter, but that Bollinger refused. His wife alleged that he abused her."

"Terror in Mumbai: IT could be next target"
Rakesh Goyal
July 12, 2006
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Terrorism' has become a global industry. It appears to work like a multinational corporation with branches, local offices around the world. This industry has no accountability to society.
The attacks in Mumbai, Bangalore, Srinagar, Delhi, Varanasi etc in India and in London, Madrid, Beslan, New York, Lebanon, Iraq appear to be executed with planned precision, coordinated by global bosses, sitting in Pakistan or Afghanistan or Europe or the USA or God knows where.
Tuesday's well-coordinated Mumbai blasts (termed '7/11') were targeted to disrupt the main commercial hub of India's resurgent economy, which houses the nation's central bank, major financial institutions, major stock exchanges, big corporate houses like Tata, Birla, Reliance; major public sector units, a booming diamond trade; wholesale trade and a big part of the IT industry, and can be termed as the engine of the Indian economy.
The bombs strategically targetted the local trains: the transport lifeline of Mumbai. All the blasts were in the first class compartments which carry middle and senior management of corporations, banks and government, apart from owner-managers from various markets. Thus, the target-segment was chosen carefully to break the middle layer of the industrial hierarchy and create terror. Until now, this class was never targeted.
Just a few months ago, terrorists could penetrate the Indian Institute of Science, a major institution of technical excellence in Bangalore, India's information technology hub. Last week, a plot to blow up tunnels between Manhattan and New Jersey in the United States was discovered and defused.
Terrorism is here to stay, whether we like or not."
