NORAD monitored launch of North Korean missiles
It turns out the US military was fully aware of today's missile launches by North Korea but quickly determined they posed no threat to the US.
The launches came Tuesday afternoon US time and involved six missiles. A spokesman says the US Northern Command and NORAD were "immediately aware" of the launches. NORAD is the North American Aerospace Defense Command run by the US and Canada to monitor the skies for threats from things like missiles, planes and falling space objects.
The spokesman says the command continues to monitor the Korea situation and "will defeat any threat to the United States and its territory."
NORAD was also busy yesterday keeping tabs on the space shuttle launch.

"Kansas City customs port considered Mexican soil?
WND investigation finds new evidence U.S. facility to be on foreign territory"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A Mexican customs facility planned for Kansas City's inland port may have to be considered the sovereign soil of Mexico as part of an effort to lure officials in that country into cooperating with the Missouri development project.
Despite adamant denials by Kansas City Area Development Council officials, WND has obtained emails and other documents from top executives with the KCSmartPort project that suggest such a facility would by necessity be considered Mexican territory despite its presence in the heartland of the U.S.
The documents were obtained with the assistance of Joyce Mucci, the founder of the Mid-America Immigration Reform Coalition, under the provisions of the Missouri Sunshine Law from the City of Kansas City, Mo., and from the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
The documents reveal a two-year campaign initiated in 2004 and managed by top SmartPort officials to win Mexico's agreement to establish the Mexican customs facility within the Kansas City "inland port." Kansas City SmartPort launched a concerted effort to advance the idea, holding numerous meetings with Mexican government officials in Mexico and in Washington to push the Mexican port idea in concert. The effort involved Missouri elected officials, including members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate."

Southern truckers are without a doubt some of the best people on the planet. Ok... good American truck drivers, just thought about all the places I've been on the road besides the south are good people.
Georgia, you are so right to enlist them in our fight against terrorists.
Speaking as a native Georgian, and the former owner/operator of a wrecker service who saw lots of what Paul Harvey used to call "The Knights of the Road?"
Thank you, very kindly.
You're welcome.
When we were moving out of state in 2000, I did find almost all the truckers very courteous and careful drivers.

In any group ( even if it's a bunch of Trappist Monks ) you'll find a few bad actors, but generally speaking, I'd rather be among a group of truck drivers ( or construction men, mechanics, welders- working guys ) than any other bunch.
They know what hard work, long hours, and the value of a paycheck mean. Most are family men.
I've always posed a question to people who wonder what really counts in America:
"If you could wave a magic wand, and make one of two groups of people vanish, which of these would bring America to a halt?"
1- Truck Drivers, or
2)- the CEO's of all the big companies?
If we didn't have men ( and some women ) making all those runs, from delivery vans to semi's, every day, America would quit working. The CEO's? Their companies would get along fine with their Vice Presidents and Secretaries running things, at least for a while.
Yep.

"Friends rallying to defend DIA spy"
By Bill Gertz
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
July 5, 2006
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A senior intelligence official is leading an effort within the Bush administration to defend former Defense Intelligence Agency China specialist Ronald Montaperto, who pleaded guilty recently to espionage-related charges involving Chinese intelligence.
Lonnie Henley, a friend of Montaperto and another former DIA China specialist, has written e-mails and had telephone conversations with intelligence and policy officials criticizing the FBI investigation and seeking to downplay the damage caused by Montaperto's 22 years of contacts with two Chinese military intelligence officers, according to officials familiar with the private support program."

Match boxes with photos of Al Qaeda men distributed in Pakistan
Islamabad: The US Embassy in Islamabad has started distribution of match boxes pasted with photographs of the most wanted Al-Qaeda men and rewards for their capture.
The match boxes were distributed to the media today during an interaction with American Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker.
The match boxes carry the photograph of senior al-Qaeda leader Adnan G. El Shukrijumah, who is wanted in connection with possible threats against the United States.
"You give us Adnan G. El Shukrijumah and in return we will give you rewards," said an Urdu language message on a green-color match box.
Under The Rewards For Justice Program, the United States Department of State has offered a reward of up to $5 million for information leading directly to the capture of Shukrijumah.
The back side of the match boxes reads "The U.S Administration offers up to Rs 30 crore reward for those who will provide information that can help in the arrest of wanted Al-Qaeda activists".
The message reads, "Protection and immigration to (the U.S) could also be provided besides rewards. We assure you that all information would be kept secret".
Contact telephone numbers in the U.S and Islamabad as well as two e-mail addresses have also been published at the end of the match boxes.
"All those having information could also contact the nearby U.S embassy or consulate," the message said.
The match boxes have been manufactured in Texas, the home town of President George W Bush." ((( How interesting )))
That's good news.
I hope the authorities were able to review the cameras' photo footage in time.

"Statement to the Saudi Mujahideen Summons Iraq Returnees"
By Chris Heffelfinger
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "On June 30, a media organization called al-Basha'ir (The Glad Tidings) issued a statement on the Lahdud forum (http://www.la7odood.com/vb ) entitled, "who we are, what we want and what our relation is to al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula." Such media services have arisen in other arenas of jihad, routinely producing materials and video in support of the mujahideen.
Al-Basha'ir may likely be an upstart group aspiring to join the al-Qaeda members fighting in Saudi Arabia. What makes this declaration significant, however, is its call for the mujahideen returning from Iraq to continue their jihad at home. The statement reads, "Al-Basha'ir is a media organization in the Arabian Peninsula concerned with the affairs of the mujahideen, especially those mujahideen returning from the land of the two rivers [Iraq] and wanted fugitives [meaning those being pursued by the Saudi Interior Ministry]" in order help expel the "tyrants in the Arabian Peninsula
