Bush set for immigration speech

BUSH SET FOR IMMIGRATION SPEECH

WHITE HOUSE President Bush is getting set for a prime-time speech on
immigration tomorrow night.

Aides note the 8 p-m, Eastern Time, speech will be the president's first from the Oval Office that does not involve Iraq and the war on terrorism. And they say that reflects Bush's
"passion" on immigration.

He's speaking as the Senate is poised to clear a compromise measure including his idea for a guest worker program. However, a rival House bill is limited to a border crackdown, and meshing the two won't be easy.

Stand Up For America !

"We have room for but one flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

God bless you!

I got excoriated by certain "conservatives" a few years back for my passion on this very Issue.

Now I see many are finally waking up to the rape of their country -- and they're not going to just "relax and enjoy it" as their complacent leaders ask them to do.

It's Not JUST about being for -- or against -- Mexicans or Illegals.

It's about the sovereignty of our country, our culture, our traditions... sovereignty that powerful interests-- both inside and outside The United States -- are determined to overthrow.

As usual Kerry was flip-flopping. When he did his train trip through the SW on his whistle stop in New Mexico he said when he was elected President everyone here would be made American Citizens

ok. thanks ! I swallowed hard before posting that !! LOL....but really, of all the reading I have done, I have seldom read anything about punishing the Corp. or person who hires them. Isn't that A MAIN POINT ? If there was no place to work, they wouldn't be here in droves.

If you look at my homepage here and the links, I sure know what it is to be crucified on this issue and stoped for a few years because of it

Seems punishing employers is the Holy Grail. It was in the 1986 law and that law was weakened by the Clinton Administration by putting up another secret wall like Gorelick did between FBI and CIA only this time it makes it almost impossible for employers to verify SS Numbers.

Thanks! That is great information. If it could work just like you said I think it is actually a good strategy.

I e-mailed Tancredo, Hayworth, King and several other Congressional Immigration Reform Committee (CIRC) members last week about their options, in my post #124.

If the CIRC hear from enough of us on this option, they will use this option. There are more than enough members of the CIRC needed to FIRE Hastert if he decides to betray the American People on any pending shamnesty/amnesty legislation BEFORE Hastert can put his Amnesty plans into action.

For me, if all the CIRC members do is just whine, if, heaven forbid, a shamnesty/amnesty bill passes, then I will personally consider them nothing but a bunch of grandstanding phoneys, deserving of our everlasting contempt. They have the power to nip this shamnesty/amnesty bill in the bud, if they are willing to exercise their collective political muscle.

Maybe I will make my own action thread on my idea later on tonight when I have more time. Really hold the CIRC members feet to the fire.

Yes it's scary. It's scary that so many don't see the danger. It's scary that so many focus on the propaganda of partisan power-mongering which serves only the elite in DC and their monied friends. It's scary that so many pols on both sides of the aisle are intentionally trying to buffalo the American public about a gaping national security breach.

One more "family values, hard working, tax paying" description of the ILLEGAL aliens and it's a waste of time!

One more "jobs Americans won't do" and and it's a waste of time!

One more "vigilantes" and I'm gone!

If the President bumps up against the bigot word to describe opponents of "guest worker" too often, I'm gone.

An explanation of how "it's not amnesty" would be nice -- but please! no call for making them file and "pay" back taxes -- the earned income credit "refunds" they'd get would bankrupt the Treasury.

Just be honest -- "cheap" subsidized labor, docile workers, a North American common border, open borders within the North American Community, money (remittances) for Mexico's corrupt government . . . just say it, Mr. President. Then IMO the debate can really be honest.

Not quite.. many are here for the free ride, eg. welfare services.

I like him too, and I think his perspective is 'clearer' than most pols because of stepping outside the ring for a while.

Well, you and others helped strike the match -- and now a big fire has started.

It may take some time but sooner, or later, the American people get it right.

Lets pray it's not too late!

I'm gonna do the same thing and encourage others to do as well. We need to hit them from every angle. No Compromise on this issue! They will NEVER be able to say they didn't understand the will of the American people!

Yeah I read about this too. I think AZ Joe has got the right idea at least for a temp fix. HR 4313 had appropriations for this to at least 200,000 initially I think. There is no reason funds can't be allocated for temp structures while more permanent solutions are worked out. If we are serious about this we need to make the flow stop now.

Every day 1,000's more cross the border...

Congratulations once again for providing a place for discussion of a crucial topic to our Nation.

This issue is far more important than personal feelings and yes, the outhouse is an LOL and so true.

Everyone here appreciates all that you have put into this.

Well, we are SCREWED!

House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin has a reputation for his strong views and knowledge of the parliamentary system. It's fair to say that House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner is not the most popular man on Capitol Hill. Colleagues consider him smart, stubborn and ornery. His bullying style in final bill negotiations between the House and Senate has made some senators cringe and forced the White House to tread carefully.

But if President Bush wants an immigration reform bill out of Congress this year, he will have to deal with Sensenbrenner, author of the most punitive illegal immigration control bill in recent House history.

Conference makeupRepublican and Democratic leaders agreed last week to return to the immigration bill after announcing a 26-member negotiating team to the final House-Senate conference that includes 15 senators who support creating a citizenship path for illegal immigrants.

The White House, which leans toward the Senate bill, had been keeping its powder dry but announced late last week that Bush planned a nationwide address Monday on immigration.

The Senate and the White House are throwing a lot of firepower at Sensenbrenner, and for good reason.

"I have watched bills pass the Senate with overwhelming majorities, and they end up in a conference with Chairman Sensenbrenner, where they are chewed to pieces," said Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill., who previously compared Senate negotiators to "cocker spaniels in a room full of pit bulls."

With Congress facing election-year demands to fix immigration laws, some senators said party leaders, including Bush, will force the Senate and House, including Sensenbrenner, to compromise."I think there's enormous pressures now to try to get something done in a comprehensive fashion," said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., a lead sponsor of the broad immigration bill. "And the (House) Speaker has been saying some good things about the guest worker program. So I hope we can work together."
