Bush set for immigration speech

BUSH SET FOR IMMIGRATION SPEECH

WHITE HOUSE President Bush is getting set for a prime-time speech on
immigration tomorrow night.

Aides note the 8 p-m, Eastern Time, speech will be the president's first from the Oval Office that does not involve Iraq and the war on terrorism. And they say that reflects Bush's
"passion" on immigration.

He's speaking as the Senate is poised to clear a compromise measure including his idea for a guest worker program. However, a rival House bill is limited to a border crackdown, and meshing the two won't be easy.

Stand Up For America !

"We have room for but one flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

I hope GWB will not try to push the "guest worker" program down our throat while paying lip service to border security.

No., he is going to soft sell it and let the hacks in the Senate try and cram it down our throat, then he can have (im)plausible deniability...thats the plan, count on it..."Border Security" is just vaseline to ease massive amnesty. Remember 1986 IRCA was supposed to cure everything for once and for ever.

A fifteen year old daughter of a close friend of mine was raped and beaten by an illegal. She was supposed to enter a special school for "intellectually gifted" students this fall, but now she is afraid to go. The perp made bail and is now deep into Mexico.......long gone. All that is left is a shaken teen. I gave up on Bush when he called the Minutemen "vigilantes". I don't care what he says tomorrow;
I don't trust him in any way, shape or form. I trust only what is verifyable.

Speaker Hastert is indicating that he favors appointing members who support amnesty to the Conference Committee Both President Bush and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist are pressuring Hastert to secure a guest worker amnesty for which the President can claim credit by stacking the Conference Committee with amnesty backers!

If Hastert is committed to putting pro-Amnesty House Members to reconcile the HR 4437 with whatever shamnesty/amnesty bill that comes out of the Senate, then I doubt he will listen to what we "little people" have to say.

We need to REALLY put pressure on the Congressional Immigration Reform Committee (Tancredo, Hayworth, King, etc.) to start flexing some of their own political muscle.

Tancredo, Hayworth and the rest of the 90 + members of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus (CIRC) still have a very powerful ace up their sleeve, if they are willing to use it.

What they have to do is first go up to Hastert and warn him that if he packs the House side of the Conference Committee with those who favor amnesty, then they will do the following:

1. Immediately announce that they are publicly withdrawing their voting support for Speaker Hastert, probably by temporarily leaving the Republican Caucus. That would mean that Speaker Hastert would no longer have the majority of votes in the House to remain speaker. Remember, for voting on the Speaker of the House, the whole house votes for the Speaker, not just the majority party. Remember the bru ha ha a few years back when a Democrat crossed party lines to vote for Hastert as Speaker.

2. This would then force Hastert out as Speaker immediately, since he no longer has the majority of the House backing him as Speaker.

3. There would then be two possibilities of this:

a. This would mean that if the GOP wants the next Speaker to be from the GOP for the rest of this Congress, then they had better pick someone who the CIRC approves of. The CIRC can really show some leverage here, either they will cast their votes for someone who agrees with them on immigration or if they do not support whom the rest of the GOP puts up as Hasterts replacement, they then can:

b. The CIRC membership does not cast a vote for Speaker, sits out the election and Pelosi picks up the Speakership by default (YIKES). I doubt the rats would vote to retain Hastert or any other Republican as speaker.

The CIRC potentially holds an awful lot of leverage and power here, if they are willing to exercise it. I suggest we all contact the members of the CIRC and remind them of this. Give them the encouragement they need to pull this off. Below is the link to the CIRC membership where you can get contact info for their members:

http://tancredo.house.gov/irc/members.html

I know this is a stretch, but it can happen and should happen (option a. above, hopefully), if this story is true and Hastert intends on selling the American People out. If this story is true, then Hastert deserves to be fired IMMEDIATELY by his House collegues. Contact the CIRC members immediately and remind them of this.

To GarySpFc: An excellent point! Senator Kyl's proposal allows illegals to immediately re-enter the country, while the legal immigrant has to wait 6 to 25 years overseas for a visa.

Chuck Hagel has become a shameful, painful spectacle.

The Minutemen visited his D.C. Senate office this past Friday after their Rally. Our own FReeper The Spirit of Allegiance, wrote out his thoughts in Hagel's guestbook.

Hastert says that about Amnesty supporters? Sheesh, he could stand up to Bush and be a hero.

the Repubs need to clean break from Bush and they did on DPW. It will help them in November. If they don't make a clean break the Dems will mess the record and hang them with association with Bush.

Thanks! That is great information. If it could work just like you said I think it is actually a good strategy.

To: Altura Ct.; All
Once caught, immigrants often disappear into U.S. Number of arrests of non-Mexican border crossers grows, but U.S. has no place to hold them, letting them slip away
