BAGHDAD, Iraq - A series of roadside bombs and explosions damaged a Shiite shrine east of the volatile city of Baqouba late Saturday, police and the Interior Ministry said.
The bombing at the Imam Abdullah Ali al-Hadi shrine, which caused no injuries, marks the second time in nearly three months that assailants have targeted a site sacred to Iraq's Shiite majority. It is likely to further heighten sectarian tensions, particularly in Baqouba, a mixed Sunni Arab-Shiite town that has recently seen an increase in violence.
The blasts occurred about 11 p.m. at the shrine, according to the Diyala provincial police Joint Coordination Center and Interior Ministry Lt. Col. Falah al-Mohammedawi.
On Feb. 22 bombs heavily damaged the Golden Dome in Samarra, which holds the tomb of Imam Abdullah's father. That attack dramatically escalated tensions between Shiites and Sunni Arabs who form the core support for the insurgency.
Iraqi lawmakers have been struggling for months to set up a new national unity government which they hope will calm sectarian and ethnic tensions and sap steam from the insurgency. But negotiations have been progressing at a glacial pace, leading some lawmakers to complain that the process was being driven by self-interest and sectarianism that ran counter to the national interest.
One day I hope these nutcases blow up the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.

2. No injuries.... sounds much more like a made-for-media event.
3. Predictably, the Aye Pee has dutifully jumped through the hoop of this latest made-for-media event with it's dour tone and discouraging comments on the Iraqi govt.
4. Smart people don't believe much that comes out of the AP.

The major media in the United States is bizarre indeed. A few months ago, Atwar Bahjat, a popular television reported for Al-Arabiya television in Iraq, was tortured and then brutally murdered by the "Iraqi insurgency" in public. You would think that the major media would be all over this since it was one of their own that was killed, but the story was muzzled in the US. It was a major story in the foreign media at the time but strangely self censored by the US mainstream media . The “Iraqi Terrorist will purposely kill women and children and the mainstream media will gloss over it. It borders on criminal the way they are reporting the news, but nobody seems to be calling them on it. We are seeing a warped fulfillment of the book “1984”, but it's the mainstream media that dispenses the propaganda to further their world view.

I prefer to call the terrorists "Mohamedans" or Mohamadans" or "Mohametans" for two reasons.
1st, Muhammadans wrote The Hadiths into the Islamist's belief system hundreds of years after Muhammad's death. An act that glorifies Muhammad, not God.
The second reason is that Islamists who think of themselves as Muslims don’t like it.*
