Convicted Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui says he lied on the witness stand about being involved in the plot and wants to withdraw his guilty plea because he now believes he can get a fair trial.

In a motion filed Friday but released today, Moussaoui said he testified March 27 he was supposed to hijack a fifth plane on Sept. 11, 2001, and fly it into the White House "even though I knew that was a complete fabrication."

Pat him on the head and let him go.

And the press release ought to thank him for all the cooperation in helping round up other A.Q. members and state that his release was negotiated such that he agreed to drop a dime on other AQ's. Then drop him off in Pakistan.

I don't know if this pope will be calling for his release. I don't think he's too high on the Nazi's old buddies from WWII.

A 30 minute military tribunal, with execution the following day - that's what he should have gotten.

hell, allied troops who liberated the concentration camps didn't even give many of the SS officers and guards that much - and rightly so.

I say let him. As long as he is willing to face a military tribunal, and the death penalty is back on the table.

Otherwise, let him rot.

He's playing the system like a violin.

In a just world, he would have been taken out and shot.

"Bush has had the same position on immigration since the 2000 election."

Maybe he has.
But I must have missed a promise to safeguard defects in the immigration system.

BUT...with some fairness to Dubya, he did have to fight institutional inertia.
Amazing that even 9-11 can't even seem to wound the giant beast of bureaucracy.

"Better yet, "force" him to view nude supermodels, the barbaric trademark of the decadent western Satan."

Or perhaps let him read the following:

Can he receive packages? I'd like to send him 40 lbs of pork sausage links and posters of Porky Pig and a bright pink piggy bank! Oh, and when he goes out for his exercise I think a plane flying over with a ad for Oscar Meyer Bacon every day would be enjoyable for him don't you think?

They will use our freedoms against us. This is a prime example. If Moussaoui is successful in withdrawing his plea, he will continue to make a mockery of our system and make us look like fools to his brethren jihadists.

He thinks he can get the ACLU to set him free. They've probably already offered their service. Heck, Hollywood has probably already offered him a movie deal!

By all means, allow him to withdraw his guilty plea. Then, he can be retried and the government can have another shot at the death penalty. Maybe the government or the jury, whoever, will get it right a second time around. Better yet, send the punk to a military tribunal, try him, and execute him. This case should have never been tried in a civilian court in the first place.

You're kidding, right? Have you ever watched those discovery channel documentaries on the supermax prisons?

He was gunning to die a quick death and to be a hero.

What he got is 40 or 50 years locked away in a small cell with a minimum of human contact and with every aspect of his life absolutely controlled by the very people he hates....all the remaining days of his life, and he's not an old man.

Not exactly a blaze of glory.

"I am telling you - alot of people in Manhattan would love to have a studio apartment with these amenities offered at supermax."
This is a travesty. This is not solitary confinment. I hope the victims of 9/11 loved ones get wind of this crap. They probably are thinking this guy is going to rot in a cell. Sounds like this scum bag is set up for a life of leisure.

"Doesn't Islamic law require death of those who commit perjury?"

The nut case now says he thinks he could get a fair trial, yet his loyalties remain with a belief system that would not even consider fairness in dealing with an enemy.

Throw away the key on this piece of human excrement.

Thats absurd...thats a lie. People who have studio apartments are free...to eat what they want...see there families...have romances...take a walk...read a book..Live.

This is solitary confinement in a soundproofed cell in the highest security prison in human history.

He won't get out. Ever.

He is buried alive...this is just a waiting room till death.
