Press conference at 1:45
1) How do you know it was sudden? Just because you and the MSM learned about it without benefit of prior leaks?
2) There are any number of reasons why Mr. Goss may have chosen to resign, not the least of which is the fact that the role of CIA director is not what it used to be. Negroponte has all but totally gutted it.
But asking the question is so much fun,LOL!
Investigations continue. If they gravitate toward members of Congress, the CIA needs to be run by someone believed to be apolitical. Goss may be too close to this problem.
Right after the break, Shep says he has new info coming from Bret Baier at the Pentagon.
COULD be hype- but heads up anyway.
Speaking of the CIA, the bulletin below just posted on NRO:
Bulletin from the Libby Courtroom [Byron York]
Lewis Libby defense lawyer Theodore Wells told a federal judge a short time ago that the Libby defense team has located five witnesses who will say under oath that Mr. [Joseph] Wilson told them his wife worked for the CIA.
Wells said he expects that prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will call Wilson himself to the stand to rebut those accusations.
Today's hearing concerning what evidence Fitzgerald is required to turn over to the Libby defense team turned into an extended discussion of whether jurors will be allowed to assess Joseph Wilson's credibility vs. that of the administration as it concerns the reasons the U.S. went to war in Iraq. Prosecutor Fitzgerald told the court, "We don't want to try the war. The courtroom is not a reasonable place to try the war. Judge Reggie Walton seemed to agree, saying, "I'm not going to let this case end up being a judicial examination of the legitimacy of the war."
In the hearing, prosecutor Fitzgerald suggested that he would offer the Libby defense team some proof that Valerie Plame Wilson's status at the CIA was classified. But as he had said earlier, Fitzgerald again said, "We will not offer any proof of actual damages" caused by the revelation of Plame's identity, although Fitzgerald said "the issue of potential damage will come up several times" in the trial.

Curiouser and curiouser...
Wonder if this will affect the reported seven figure advance Plame is trying to obtain for her memoirs..
"Kennedy supposed to enter Mao Clinic for prescription drug dependence..."
And he just served us a poo-poo platter
Me: "Why else would he resign so suddenly?"
Wolfstar: "1) How do you know it was sudden? Just because you and the MSM learned about it without benefit of prior leaks?

1. I don't know. If felt sudden and wasn't on the scheduel. There was a lack of detail - no date for him leaving and no hint of his replacement.
2. Agreed.
What a Friday. I can't believe the judge will not allow Wilson's credibility to be impeached. This case isn't about the war, it's about whether a crime was committed and I don't mean what Libby did.
:0)
I have lost ALL faith in the CIA. It is so riddled with moles from the DNC, MSM and other Democrap enablers it is not only useless, but dangerous to national security.
I don't see Goss leaving just due to lack of face time on the daily brief to POTUS, and being #2 to Negroponte, but I could be wrong. I'm thinking it's gotta be something much more substantial which will enfold for it to happen this strange ly.
Tony Snow better be getting his rest and taking his vitamins this weekend .. Monday's gaggle is gonna be a riotous mob.
Shep: staff shakeup -- Brett Baier on now
Everything I posted in #748 is a fact - NOT an insinuation. The only insinuation is that those FACTS are related to the resignation. And I've acknowledged, over and over, that it is speculation whether those FACTS relate to the resignation. But I haven't seen anyone post FACTS that are more likely to be related to a sudden resignation on a Friday afternoon by a guy whose name has cropped up in the news recently as being related to a burgeoning investigation.
Oh god, and I was just about to go off and do something productive...
SERIOUS disagreements between Goss and Negroponte.
Goss wanted reform. Apparently..Negroponte doesn't..?
Now I'm scared.
