May 1 closures: who to boycott? Rallies (Live thread)
05/01/06

Posted on 04/30/2006 9:38:02 PM PDT by Heartofsong83

This should be a list of who is planning to close their business on Monday, May 1 in response of the Great American Boycott. We should compile it and boycott them ourselves if possible!

Remember to go shopping or work overtime on May 1!

Surely, you gave them all zeros for the day. There's no excuse to skip out today or any day.

LOL A small word about my grading policies. I follow district guidelines for scale, of course. But all my assignments carry multiple grades. An exam is typically worth three grades. Get this, I double the "F" on a zero...for no work performed. Lots of my kids break their butts and still get an "F." That's just the way life is sometimes. So why should I give the lazy ones or those who don't give a hoot the same grade as somebody who really tried and simply failed? Last thing before I went home last friday I warned everybody who had me Monday there was an exam.....BE there or show me a death certificate.......and a body.......

Legally speaking, IF the kids show up tomorrow with a note from mom or dad or guardian I have to let them make the exam up. But it doesn't have to be the same exam (nor should it be under the guidelines) only the same content. You should see my backup exam for cases like this.....

I meant them and us. Once they become citizens they will tip the balance in favor of the looney left and we will have a socialist nation soon followed by a full blown communist regime. Them, us, everybody here will be living the joys of serving the Party with our lives.

Dear Cold Heat,

there is a great book titled "the black book of Communism" that details quite a bit of the horrible events caused by these fruitcakes- some of this activity that we are seeing lately happened prior to 1917 in Russia. All the "class warfare" that is being used by the left to get the illegals on board and ignorant Americans, is what scares me. This is just another nail in the coffin, or straw breaking the camel's back. At some point, citizens need to stand up to those who want to destroy us.

If we keep allowing our rights to be encroached, we'll eventually have nothing.

Do you remember growing up with bilingual signs everywhere? I don't, but it is so normal now that we don't bat an eye when we see it. That is just one example of what should never have been condoned or allowed to happen- we should have sent a clear "economic" message to businesses at that time to stop this nonsense. That simple permission to Hispanic immigrants, to get by without knowing "basic" English, demonstrated that we will give in to any illogical demand. Now, here we are being told by these same people, with Spanish placards, that we need to accept them even if they are here illegally.

I sincerely hope you don't really think this isn't a big deal. I'm sure that you locked the doors on your home before you turned in for the evening.... ;-)

Lastly- commies don't have to hide under woodpiles any longer, because they thrive in broad daylight at protests across this great nation. They merely change their names, just like the Soviets did several times, and use different groups to achieve their goals.

That is why I question the motivation of our "leaders." They know this will happen, too.

I went to work, to the pharmacy, SEARS and Vons. Everywhere I went was busy but uncrowded and pleasant. No screaming kids running the the aisles, etc.

Traffic flowed with ease, buses ran on time.

I observed some cars displaying the U.S. flag! I also saw much patriotic clothing, being worn and bought! And this is Los Angeles!

I DID NOT HEAR SPANISH ALL DAY LONG.

I am in ecstasy.

My wife took the car to the car wash today, they told her that there was no one there to dry her car.

She walked in and cancelled our monthly account. She was a little peaved...

Understand your point re Wendy's.

However, that one Wendy's needed corporate approval to close for the day.

They probably had very little choice if most of their employees are hispanic and/or illegals. Sad, isn't it?

But ultimately, it should make them think about who they hire.

Fine, fine letter, Phil. I'm amazed today's occasion was used for a roundup.

Bush's deal with Fox to rescind Houston v. Santa Ana has been given the Harriet Miers treatment.

Tonight's PBS "American Experience" was on that very topic. Amazing timing, or was it? The story of the Alamo was told through the point of view of Juan Antonio Navarro and the Tejanos, or so it seemed to me.

I greatly enjoyed my commemorative shopping day today, although I really hate to commemorate anything on May 1. I wake up with visions of Soviet tank parades on May 1.

I know. It's a very disturbing thing. Any type of amnesty virtually assures an unbeatable moonbat voting bloc in the future.

Somewhere on this long thread, a FReeper suggested that we Americans have a day without American gringo work day. That we all stay home from work on July 3rd to show the business what it would really be like without us.

I think that's worth considering. July 3rd falls on a Monday. That would be a 4 day break for the 4th of July celebration. What better way to show our patriotism.

All I know is we better do something to counter this tide that's turning in our country before it's too late.

That's a great idea...except many many places do have that day off already as a holiday.

And, given how apathetic so many Americans are.....I'm not too optimistic that any of them would even bother....they're so unwilling to be disturbed but will be the loudest to complain when they finally wake up from their stupor....and find it's way too late.
