On a recent edition of the nationally-televised TV show “Fox News Sunday” (4/2/06), neoconservative warmonger William Kristol, Editor of the “Weekly Standard” magazine, admitting that he is “soft on illegal immigration,” said: “I’m a liberal on immigration. I mean, I think the Bush approach is right.” Regarding the millions of illegal immigrants who have violated the law and invaded our country, he added: “What damage have they done that’s so great in 20 years?….What’s happened that’s so terrible in the last 20 years? Is the crime rate up in the United States in the last 20 years?….And they’ve been contributing to the U.S. economy and not damaging U.S. society.”

Bill Krystol is the 'go to' guy when you want to short circuit reasoned conservative policy. He's less than worthless.

I think we should start using illegals for political pundits. They'll contribute to the economy , they'll support their families, and best of all they'll be just as accurate and useful.

Anyone who asks blithely, "what harm have they done" obviously does not live in a neighborhood that has been overwhelmed by them.

Let him come down here to AZ and take a look around and see if he still believes there has been no harm, I dare him. Tell him to get a guided tour from Sean Hannity and he can take William down to the border and see the tons of refuse on the private ranches and the National Monument in ruins. Then let him go to the larger cities in AZ and see them standing by the dozens on the street corned running up to your vehicle begging for work for a day. Then let him come and visit an emergency room (those that are still open in AZ) and see how long it will take until he gets attention by the medical staff. No harm - HA HA. He probably doesn't even know where Tucson and Phoenix are, rich wealthy east coasters. They get, and stay, rich off the fruits of these hard working people because people like him pay them "slave wages". At least the slaves were given housing.

Decades ago, both parties used to be fairly conservative in most respects --- both could at least agree to be against ILLEGAL immigration.

Invective like 'neoconservative warmonger' tell me right away that I'm going to be reading a Pat Buchanan-like rant, so I went no further. While I didn't read the remainder, I'd be surprised if the phrase 'Jewish Lobby' didn't come up somewhere in there, either.

...and now Arizona is 49th in the nation for education.

Colorado claims the same ranking for their educational system, and so do a few other states. It's all in the benchmark used and the way the numbers are added up, I suppose, but I'd be wary of anyone claiming second-to-last to highlight a crisis.

49 seems to be pretty popular - I wonder why no one is ever eager to claim that they came in at the absolute bottom of the heap?
