Princeton University sociologist Douglas S. Massey reports that 62 percent of illegal immigrants pay income taxes (via withholding) and 66 percent contribute to Social Security. Forbes magazine notes that Mexican illegals aren't clogging up the social-services system: only 5 percent receive food stamps or unemployment assistance; 10 percent send kids to public schools.
Economist Larry Kudlow praises Hispanic entrepreneurship: "According to 2002 Census Bureau data, Hispanics are opening businesses at a rate three times faster than the national average. In addition, there were almost 1.6 million Hispanic-owned businesses generating $222 billion in revenue in 2002."
Total crime and property crime in California are half what they were in 1980; violent crime has fallen more than a third. The state's Hispanic population during that time has increased 120 percent.

I think you're projecting son. I'm not pulling anything back in. You support illegal immigrants being here, and as part of that you don't mind the murders, rapes or child molestations that go along with it.
A fact is a fact, whether you can grasp it or not.
If only 10% send their kids to public school, then we are in waaaayyyy more trouble then even I thought. Up until last year I worked in the public school system. We had schools that within 5 years, the school population was 80% hispanic. We had to attend seminars on how to deal with the ethnic differences so we could be more sensative to their issues. Very p.c., after the seminar we would ALL comment on how utterly stupid the dang seminar was.
The citizen belongs here. The illegal does not.
We will be exposed to some crime. We do not have to be exposed to the crime committed by illegal immigrants.
We are by our leader's and the appologist's choice.
Sheesh.
You didn't ask me if any illegals had committed a crime against me, but I would like to answer anyway. My immediate family and I have had numerous crimes committed against us by illegals and continue to regularly. Trespassing, theft, breaking and entering, property destruction, littering on our property, and attempted car jacking have all been committed against me and/or my immediate family by illegals. Not to mention the numerous times either us threatening them with a weapon, or Border Patrol arriving has interrupted crimes in progress that we are not sure what the intent was if they could have carried it out.
We don't need to deport all of them, if we secure the border, then enforce immigration laws on the books now, deny them access to non-emergency medical care unless they have the ability to pay, and deny them access to social programs, many will deport themselves. A short time after these things take effect, the number would be much, much easier to deal with.
I feel the same way- secure the border, then we can discuss options. I will not support any plan that doesn't first secure the border, no more promises of future beefing up the border plans. There have been too many broken promises about border enforcement. I need to see it to believe it.
The economic arguments for or against illegals are meaningless. The bottom line is that Mexican culture is subverting and eroding institutions and beliefs which have made this country successful, and you can't put a price on that. It is driving us to an ugly war within our own borders unless we capitulate to Mexico's demands. No economic contribution can compensate for that.
As long as taxpayers aren't hijacked to pay his medical bills, his kid's education, his food, etc. Employers who hire illegals have been picking my pocket way too long to subsidize their cheap labor. That makes it my business.
Their issues. Assimilation is the problem here. Not too much of this would be a problem if they would assimilate.
My children have Hispanic surnames, they go to public schools, but they're native-born citizens. I would venture to say that at least 95% of the kids in their school with Hispanic surnames are natural born US citizens.
So I don't have the slightest problem accepting that statistic.
Remember, most illegals don't enter the country with kids, they have them here.
Those kids, under the current accepted interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment are NOT illegal aliens.
Front for illegal aliens?
Why don't you go sober up.
I could buy into this logic only if there were two qualifiers, the first being that there were no murders, rapes, or child molestations prior to the immigration wave. The second would be that these crimes were advocated, encouraged, and overlooked; with no prosecution due to immigrant status (immunity). Neither circumstance applies.
I say let them have at it. They just show what type people they truly are.
It is against the law for foreign nationals to enter our nation and become illegal immigrants. If the laws of our nation were enforced, there would no illegal immigrant crime.
What citizens do doesn't apply to this in any manor. It's totally separate, and the attempt to rationalize one with the other is nothing more than an attempt to confuse the issue.
Those who advocate for illegal alien presence in the United States are willing to accept the crime that comes along with it. I know that is something that they don't want to take ownership of, but it's there and cannot be denied.
Ending illegal alien presence in the U.S. will save lives. It will end the untold misery of those who are the victims of those crimes.
I cannot understand how a consevative could advocate not only for defying U.S. law, but for a massive body of lawbreakers that will perpetrate untold violent crimes on our citizens.
Thanks for the response.
You did not answer my question, can you report and pay Social Security without a social security number? Whether or not you are employed by someone else or self-employed, can you report and pay FICA without a Social Security number? If you don't know the answer, just say you don't know the answer. Don't cut and paste things that don't answer the question. I already know the requirements and how to report and pay FICA with a social security number, I have done it for years, both on a payroll and self-employed.
I want a answer to this Ron, why are you the only one allowed to have an opinion on this issue?
What gives you the idea that you have the right to "demand" an answer from me?
Why is it that the mere fact that I disagree with you on the ways to solve this problem make me less than you, or you more than me for that matter?
Your vulgarity-riddled "response" to the article was sophomoric, and your post to me was not worth anything but scorn.
There are underlying issues that drive the illegal alien problem, and dictates the Federal government's actions...adults want to understand those underlying issues.
Infantile, emotional idiots just want to tell Tony Snow to F#CK OFF.
Now, get out pof my way and let me discuss this with adults.
We already have this law in place. We currently have CBP working day and night. Which specific promises/laws have been broken by the Executive branch? And we need to name the person or agency that is willfully violating these enforcement provisions. I am not a President Bush cheerleader by anyones measure; but this immigration policy cannot be laid at his feet. It rightfully belongs to Congress.

Pure racism. Not all hispanics are illegal immigrants, and not all illegal immigrants are hispanic. I would guess that fewer than 1% of those 1.6 million businesses are owned by illegal immigrants.
"Well, by this "logic," we should simply deport everyone in the country. If no one is here, then no one will commit any crimes here."
Wow you're weird.
Can you possibly see that the enforcement of laws pressuposes future events...in that this country could/should have enforced it's given laws without deporting people, and prevented the current mess and quite possibly those situations?
Or would you rather assume my thought process in action,...creating your own mind-made context as an arguement.... and coming off as someone whom is rather unpleasant?
Bush wanted to make illegal aliens pay a FINE for being here illegally before they applied for a work visa and allowed to stay.
Since that's punishment, then you are satisfied with that plan?
