Michelle Malkin: WELCOME TO RECONQUISTA!

WELCOME TO RECONQUISTA
***scroll for updates...Bush warns against stoking anti-immigrant feelings. Wants a "civil debate." Video here...Ok. Tell that to the divisive militants below...***

As Mickey Kaus points out, the reporters at the Los Angeles Times (and all other major media, for that matter) have downplayed the radical ethnic separatism that characterized the pro-illegal immigration rallies over the weekend. While the Times misleadingly asserted that the Los Angeles rally "featured more American flags than those from any other country," its reporters conveniently ignored marchers with extremist signs and banners advocating America-undermining concepts of reconquista and Aztlan:

aztlan004.jpg

aztlan002.jpg

aztlan003.jpg

aztlan005.jpg

aztlan006.jpg

And does anyone remember this billboard from last year?

losangelesmex.jpg

These sentiments, as I've noted before, are not limited to ethnic fringe groups--but also mainstream Democrat politicians and campus chapters of the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or MEChA.

Most of the members of the open-borders media won't dare breathe a word about this militant phenomenon, lest they be accused of...racism. Oh, the irony.

Welcome to reconquista.

Where are all the assimilationists now?

Another one:

Can you image the uproar over someone holding up a sign that read "White is Beautiful?"

Tammy Bruce noted on FOX News this morning that American flags were burned at the LA rally and marchers also held signs of the North American continent with America x'ed out.

Who's organizing the illegal alien rallies? Lonewacko investigates the role of a former Mexican consul in Georgia.

Flashback: Heather Mac Donald's November 2005 exposé of the expanding political role of Mexico's consular offices in the U.S. is must-read and must-re-read.

Flashback: Lawrence Auster outlines The Second Mexican War.

Mark Krikorian sees something I've been noting myself lately--an analogy between the reconquista movement in the U.S. and Europe's dhimmification.

Another similarity between the reconquistas and the jihadists: hatred of Jews--and people married to Jews.

Tom Tancredo is not afraid of the demonizers.

Yahoo! coverage of the immigration debate.

Bryan Preston has a proposal.

Have you heard about the "rent-a-family" scheme?

Patterico defuses hysteria over the House-passed proposal to make illegal immigration and illegal presence felony crimes.

You know what's real hyperbole? This statement of yours:

Ms. Malkin thinks that everyone with the surname Hernandez(etc.) is a rabid leftist and/or che gueverra supporter...

Please LJ, IMO, Ms. malkin plays the race card to the hilt and the leftists are more than glad to give her ammunition to spew her hyperbole, IMO.

Then it will REALLY be part of Mexico, just like they want. Then they'll leave us alone, right?

They want Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, too.. probably all the way to Canada the way they seem to think these days.

They tried to put one of them here in our small town and thank goodness our City Council told them to pound sand. Too bad our other politicians don't have the same good sense.

Yuh know Carolyn, your above could be a DUmmie post. Just insert "they(Mexicans)" above with "fundies".

Well living in Coffee-land you obviously don't have the interaction with illegal immigrants we have in the SW part of the USA and that has nothing to do with DUland -- go peddle your stuff somewhere else.

Europeans didn't steal this land. They took it lawfully by conquest, the rule of real estate transfer that was in effect at the time of the transfer.

All land was taken at some point and conquest was the accepted method of acquisition for centuries. Read the old testament if you need clarification.

Carolyn all I was stating is that, IMO, is that you have the same kind of mindset against all hispanics as DUmmies do against all "fundies"(i.e evil).

If you wish to follow the DUmmie mindset, no problem by me, but don't get all mad and bothered when someone calls you on it.

Yeah. Let them have their little socialist paradise. We'll mow our own lawns here in Texas. Oh, btw, they can have Texas when they Come And Take It, over my dead body.

Dane,
You need to think a little bit about what you wrote. (Please don't take this personally...I am just pointing this out, other posters may not be so equitable about it.)

I actually went back and re-read the article, just to be sure I didn't miss anything. She is right on the money, with images (probably genuine, not Photoshopped) that back up her points that she made.

Was she saying that the entire demonstration was orchestrated by Che Guevara enthusiasts, Aztlan or Reconquista supporters? No. Did she say there was a sizeable proportion of those populations present, and that they were being completely downplayed by the national media? Yes, she did say that, and everything I have seen bears that out. I did not see ANY mention of those groups on CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, NYT or WaPo, but one only needs to look closely at any images in the media (not just the ones on her web page) to see flags other than "Old Glory".

Nowhere in her writing did she make the assertion that "everyone with the surname Hernandez(etc.) is a rabid leftist..."

That, Dane, is hyperbole on your part, not hers.

No. I have a mindset agains ILLEGAL immigration from Mexico into our country and employers who hire them -- of which we have a lot of here in our backyard -- because contrary to your core belief they do take a lot of jobs that American's will do given the chance.

In addition current estimates are that for every tax-paying citizen of our state of Arizona we are paying $750 per person to support people who are here illegally; the number is even higher in California.

Perhaps when they start to invade Seattle in large numbers, as they have Arizona, California and Texas you will know why so many of us are unhappy about this situation and want the borders sealed.

Interesting that the map of "Aztlan" includes not only a big chunk of the U.S., but all of Central America.

The Salvadorans, Guatemalans, Hondurans, Nicaraguans, Costa Ricans, and Panamanians that I know do not share this vision of "Aztlan."
