If you want to take the religeous point of view. Geopolitically and militarily, all of the arab armies combined have already tried unsucessfully 3 times. And it is not like they got any better at real warfare. That's why they need an atomic bomb. Maybe they can get Musharaff out of power in Nuclear armed Pakistan, and get a more sympathetic Muslim in power in his place.

I believe that we about to see Ezekiel 38 unfold. All the alliances are there and they will all come together, at one time, to annihilate Israel. They should read the Bible and take the strictest heed, because it describes their own annihilation and by the hand of God. It is not a pretty sight.
