Israel warns of ‘evil axis’ World War

Israel’s UN envoy Gillerman warns of Hamas’ venture into politics, saying Islamic group is forming ‘axis of evil’ with Syria and Iran; Adds terror triangle likely to instigate first World War of the 21st century if not stopped

WASHINGTON - Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Gillerman, on Tuesday warned of a new “terror axis” between Iran, Syria and Hamas, which could kick start “the first world war of the 21st century.”

Addressing the U.N. Security Council on a quarterly session to discuss international terrorism, Gillerman asked council members if their governments would agree to al-Qaeda or the Kurdish group PKK running in elections.

“Imagine al-Qaeda or the PKK running in elections? A dictator’s democracy is a dangerous false impression,” Gillerman told the Council.

Gillerman warned of Hamas’ venture in politics, saying “the world is witnessing a new alliance between Iran, Syria and Hamas, which constitutes an axis of terror.”

Gillerman evoked Iranian President Mahmoud Ahamadinejad’s January visit to Syria and the warm welcome in Tehran of Hamas leaders this week. Political leader Khaled Mashaal led a Hamas delegation to Iran where he said Iran will play a more central role in Palestinian affairs after guarantees for financial backing to the Palestinian government from the Islamic Republic.

“This new terror axis poses a big threat to regional and world stability, and is a recipe for the worst ever plague. If we ignore this imminent threat, the axis of evil will be the seeds of the first world war of the 21st century,” Gillerman said.

He called on the international community “to take seriously Syria, Hamas and Iran’s joint effort and to act seriously to prevent Iran, an extremist and dangerous government that supports terror, from acquiring the knowledge to develop nuclear arms.”

Gillerman said that the democratic elections in the Palestinian Authority cannot cover up Hamas extreme ideology which calls for the destruction of Israel. He invited Council members to read Hamas’ charter, a key provision of which calls for the murder of Jews and the annihilation of the Jewish state.

You should never enter into a democratic contest with someone who doesn't believe in democracy, doesn't believe in the rule of law, doesn't respect the humanity of his political opponents. Such a person is deadly dangerous, your enemy; you don't settle your conflict with such a person by majority rule, you settle it by more definitive means, the dungeon and the bullet.

If the democrats are not careful, more and more conservatives may start to identify with this statement.

Well, actually, just *ONE* nuke anywhere in Israel makes most of the country uninhabitable. It's pretty much over at that point, for next 10000 years, give or take few months. At that point I think Israelis would devastate ME. Everyone'd get nuked. Keep in mind, in those places fallout casualties would be tremendeous. While I'm as of yet unlcear whether the Mullahs in Iran really have a deathwish (rhetoric notwithstanding), or they're just taking a page from North Korea's extortion handbook, Syrians, a secular Baathist regime, has absolutely *zero* interest in a such a scenario. Question remains whether Mullahs would sacrifice the entirety of their country to destroy Israel. I really doubt they are crazy. Everything so far points to a calculating regime.

"But Neville Chamberlain is historical proof that supposedly intelligent people sometimes can't see the obvious, even when it's right in front of their faces."
Actually, the more "intellectual" a person considers him or herself, the more easily they fail or refuse to see and accept the obvious.

A fact that's too often been proven......
To the sadness and dismay of many......

Does anyone who's not asleep not see the major war headed our direction?

Agreed. But I wouldn't want to be a Pentagon war planner right now. A number of options, all of them lousy.

We attack Iran in the near future, March or so, we have to bomb 450 hardened underground facilities - with no guarantee of success. It will kill thousands. Global Jihad around the world. Cartoon mania exponentially multiplied. Iran shuts off the strait of Hormuz faucet with mines and Silkworm missile attacks from hidden points all along the Iranian coast line. Oil shoots past $200 - throwing the world into economic chaos. China, Russia and Venezuela side with Iran, exacerbating oil supply problems. China might even dump dollars, collapsing our currency. That's the better of the two options.

Second option. We wait until Iran develops nukes - and they immediately use them on Israel and/or the US.

In both cases, the Iranian "Twelvers" slap their hands with glee and retire to their bunkers to await the 12th Imam.

Gillerman is right on target. The enemy is attempting to ignite a regional war in the Near & Middle-East which could quickly escalate into a global war.

I believe that we about to see Ezekiel 38 unfold. All the alliances are there and they will all come together, at one time, to annihilate Israel. They should read the Bible and take the strictest heed, because it describes their own annihilation and by the hand of God. It is not a pretty sight.

Can't say we weren't warned. Pity, now the world waits for the inevitable outcome to unfold......at our own demise.

warned of a new “terror axis” between Iran, Syria and Hamas,

Gotta included Hezbollah, the Iranian/Syrian attack dogs. ......poised on Israel's northern border with God-only-knows what weaponry (possibly some of Saddam's WMDs).

The Iranian weapon will never get off the ground. The attempt however will lead to the immediate end of Iran.

Iran has been the generator of most terrorism since the mid-70s. To return the world to the civility and respect we once had for each other, Iran has to be defeated and surrender and begin again....just as Japan had to do. Hopefully a better world will emerge afterward.

The human tragedy will be massive if Iran is not stopped. The lesser tragedy is in preempting. What a choice.
