Sometimes we make that first dash into the ocean on summer vacation and happily announce, "It's warm as bathwater."
But a new study based on ancient sediments collected off South America indicates that the tropical Atlantic Ocean really did hit temperatures as high as 107 degrees Fahrenheit back when dinosaurs ruled.
The finding, reported Friday by researchers from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution during the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, also estimates that carbon dioxide made up as much as six times more of the atmosphere at that time than it does today.

Those dinos must have been highly industrialized for CO2 counts that high.

Well, you see what happened to the dinosaurs don't you? They became a lower form of life - journalists.

The question arises as to how warm the water was in lower levels. Had it been too warm, would fish have survived? Also, would there not have been variations in ocean water temperatures between the equator and the poles, as there is now?

Face it, we are all gonna die!!!!!
Whew!
Now that I got that off my chest, I guess I can go back to what I was doing. :)

The greenies should be happy with us. We're just trying to create an environment in which a long-extinct species can come back and thrive.
We're ecologists.

Check out this web site and look at the chart on historic global temperatures over the eons. It shows we are coming out of a cool period. It backs up this article. If humans think we are responsible for this warming trend, they are as ignorant as it gets. Our past modern human history of a few thousand years or so is INSIGNIFCANT in the overall history of the plant Earth. If you think otherwise, you may be a narcissist with way too high regard for yourselves.

I think global-warming may be man-made. All the liberal hotheads in Hollywood, NYC and elsewhere spewing forth filth everytime they open their mouths while flying their private planes between global-warming events has to be having some environmental impact.

first thing to remember climate change is the norm not the unusual as the RATs would have people believe. the huge limestone formations (coral) left by inland seas came from higher concentrations of CO2 in the air. the current alignment of the continents with an arctic ocean tend to lead to cycles of glacial periods not runaway heat. none of the existing climate models correctly represent todays when loaded with past centuries of data. If they can't correctly represent today's conditions they cannot truly estimate the future.

pssst..... Change the long term climatic models to make it fit... simple...
You must make the results accurately fit the predictions, otherwise the predicitions would be wrong...
