If McCain was from Alabama, had a "D" next to his name and claimed his party "left" him, gave folksy speeches, and went on MSNBC ripping on liberals, he could have the SAME "record" in Congress that he has now and the Zell Miller/Joe Lieberman club here would worship and adore him. McCain-Feingold, Torture bil, etc. would be EASILY forgiven/ignored.
The same is true for Mitt Romney/Bob Elrich, if they were female/black/hispanic (R) and had the SAME record, the Condi Rice types here would worship him. Heck, he could be FURTHER left on abortion than he current is (Condi already is!)

Condi Rice is such a huge mistake to tout as President.
She has zero interest and little of the political experience needed to run let alone govern. It would be a disaster for conservatives, who will be sorely disappointed when she inevitably does non-conservative things.
Her main accomplishment as Secty of State in the mideast has been to keep isreal on the hot seat while letting hamas win the latest election in Palestinian areas.
If you want a RINO President, go for McCain, he actually wants the job. Or maybe even Guliani, who shows, despite being social moderate, that he has the cohones for leadership, especially in the GWOT, and a far better tempterment than say mccain.
Me? I'm supporting George Allen, since Newt Gingrich is not electable and Mike Pence is not running.
Allen/Guliani or Allen/Chris Cox or Allen/ would be an interesting ticket. Tancredo? Sorry, another maverick like mccain, big mistake to put him on the ticket.

Condi's 'qualifications' are that she is a smart, black woman who never held elective office. Never mind that never having run for office means she has no clue how hard it is to run, that she has NO INTEREST in the job - for the very good reason that she is completely unsuited to it. never mind that she is a moderate who will make conservatives cringe when voting for her, and cringe further if and when her soft approach to Palestinian terrorists is extended to other issues like immigration, spending, etc. where for all we know she is no better than an average Democrat.
And when she loses to Hillary in a huge landslide, the Dems will simply gloat about picking the 'more experienced women' over the women who's never been in a single campaign.
I thought the Perot supporters were looney, but this one tops it.
I think people have the WRONG idea about Rice.
She is the LEAST able to defeat Hillary.
You need a tough no-holds-barred type to run against Hillary, not a soft non-politician who wont hold Hillary accountable for her lies.
Doubt me? Look how Hillary took out the moderate Lazio in New York in 2000.
Frankly, Gingrich is far more of a better candidate than Condi up against Hillary. Then it is a pure battle of ideologies, and conservatives have an edge.

Number two...My whole post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek...I'm sorry that didn't ring true to you. Of course I realize Rice has suggested she's not interested in the job. Allen has been making too many dumb comments lately. So I would want a ticket of Condi/Weldon. But Condi is saying "no way" so may have to settle for Guilani/Weldon.
Americans rarely elect those they never heard of so Pence has no chance.
I think Allen or Rice is the best way to go.
As for McPaine, I have had it with RINOs. NO rino will ever get my vote my vote again - ever.

Your idea of a "true conservative" would be someone without a prayer of being elected. Maybe 5% of the voters would fit your idea of a "true conservative".
While Barbour would be viable Tancredo is way too far out on the fringe to even get close to a nomination. Same with Ron Paul.

Brownback is hardly as popular as you pretend. I like him but most people have never even heard of him. He has zero chance.
