I do see your point, and in an idealistic world would agree. What Bush is above all else is a Globalist as are most members of both party's. A lot of the citizens of this country are beginning to see through the globalist agenda. I fully expect someone so distasteful to be pushed in the VP slot and run for the President, that the only was they can win is that the DeomcRATS run someone even worse. We will get ti pick which path of National destruction we get to take.

I guess Pence is one of the Rep congressmen who's trying to reign in the budget deficit.

"Condi in second place. SEE what I mean?
Oh, and I know you voted for McCain just to cause trouble...lol."
I cause enough trouble without voting for McCain. That 1.9% surprised even me. And you??
Early on it's always name recognition. Everyone knows Condi, but she's not running...OR is she?
I've suggested that Mike Pence replace Cheney as VP in order to give him name recognition. The conservative Pence is excellent, and it'd be a smart move, but who knows what his plans are?
Unfortunately, the GOP plan seems to be the mushy middle-RINO mode. Tellin' ya -- they go that route, they will blow it.

"Members of the House won't win it."
On the other hand, a senator hasn't won since 1960. Something about sitting in that senate chamber seems to turn people into pompous windbags with a craven fear of the press. Governors seem to do very well; they haven't absorbed all of that beltway BS and pomposity.

Someone did a 5 part series on the best GOP candidates about 6 months ago, and concluded that Mike Pence of Indiana is the best choice. He's the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, so he's currently climbing up.
To: MikeinIraq
"Generally governors stand the best chance."
Agree. I was going by the folks on the list, which didn't include any governors. Not sure about Mitt Romney, though. He's a governor, alright, but in one of the most liberal states in the entire country.

Nonsense . I'm not from Mass so i'm not sure exactly where he stands on all the issues. I've never said they should change their positions. I've listened to him speak and he comes off far more Presidential than any other Republican out there .
Rice comes in a close second as far as electability only for the simple reason that she isn't what I would call a seasoned politician like Romney . Start her out as VP and then she can work her way onto the Whitehouse . She is good on the gun issue , the other issues haven't really been addressed in a direct manor.
So as I said , if they are right on the issues (which is crucial) , I think they would make a very powerful ticket.

I have read Pence's name here, but know LITTLE about him. I've seen pics of his nice family but haven;t heard him speak.
Condi has repeatedly said she's not running... that she wants to be NFL Commish.
I know you voted for Pence. I did NOT.

Bush is not at all a globalist in the way that the Dems are. Yes, he believes in NAFTA and GATT and most of that WTO stuff, but he strongly opposes the International Criminal Court, Kyoto, much of what the UN stands for, and many other institutions beloved of true one-world globalists. He seems to be a strong believer in American sovereignty; I have been shocked in recent years to discover that the Dems really do NOT believe in American sovereignty, and will do what they can to destroy it.

You and I would strongly disagree on this point.

P.S. I called the Allen/Rice ticket sometime in early 2004 here in FR.
Ex-governor of Virginia and the first BLACK woman on a Presidential ticket?
Here's a listing of Virginia governors elected to the Presidency:
- Thomas Jefferson
- James Monroe
- John Tyler
Virginia is overdue.

So as I said , if they are right on the issues (which is crucial) Oh. Well, they're not.
Romney is pro-abortion, halfway-pro-gay, anti-gun. Besides which he sets new standards for being self-absorbed, self-promoting, and flip flops like a windsurfing Kerry.
Condi is .... something not pro-life (don't think she's been pinned down on what legislative action she prefers) and at least somewhat pro-Affirmative Action. Love her at State though.

Rice/ some Southern governor. Bush, Allen, .....
I firmly believe Cheney will retire for some reason and Rice will be elevated to VP. That way she can be the natural candidate without appearing to "want" it. It is a twist on a "Draft Condi" movement.
