I've always thought that was the plan, Cheney step down and Dr. Rice step up.

I actually thought this might have happen before the last election. I've love to see Dr. Rice as VP these last two years.

Maybe President Rice would make MeCain Sec of State?

Condoleeza Rice will be replacing Dick Cheney this fall as Vice President and will run for and win the Presidency.
I've often wondered what was up. It made no sense at all to run someone who was absolutely not going to run for the Presidency as VP the second term. I guarantee you they have plans to run someone unelectable or they would have put them on the ticket as VP.
You may be right.

Pence seems like a great choice, but has he paid enough dues to attain the highest position in the country? I can see him as a VP in 08 and a POTUS in a later year.

Perhaps an Allen/Pence ticket.

A McCain/Pence ticket would be interesting and would probably grab a wide range of support in the general election.

There must be 79 trolls in FreeRepublic.

That's the count now for Giuliani.

"It made no sense at all to run someone who was absolutely not going to run for the Presidency as VP the second term."

It makes a lot of sense if Bush thinks Cheney is a valuable member of his team. You can't base everything on what might happen in the next election; Bush, in particular, does not see things that way. If he did, he NEVER would have gone into Iraq.

RE Franks...the military angle is a good one this time around. The country has a tradition of placing popular military men in the White House, and its' about time for that tradition to be bear fruit...imho.

Sad as it seems, Thompson also gets military man points due to his movie roles in "The Hunt for Red October," etc....FReegards.

"I Love Thompson, I just don't think he would do it."

Rice has also repeatedly said she is not interested. That's why I went for Giuliani/Kasich, with her as an alternate, in case she changes her mind.

Who do I want? George Allen.... Who do I think will win?? Today it'd be McCain or maybe Giuliani, but given the primary season and how that tends to shake things out, I think the both of them will fall by the wayside. Allen/Pence

Mike Pence

I finally quit lurking just to say that Pence has done enough on the issues I care about to be elected President three times over.

"What logical reason would you have to compare Kerry and Brownback?"

They both are Senators who either have lost, or would lose, a Presidential election (just in my opinion, of course, for the latter part).

"Rice is on the list and she has never held public office. Where is the logic in that?"

I never said I liked Rice for President. I think she could (easily) pound Hillary, although should the 'rats nominate a moderate Dem, that person could give Rice a run for her money.

I didn't know who Pence was either. Had to look him up. He's a congressman from Indiana.

Members of the House won't win it.

Besides, I don't think Tancredo nor Pence will get more than 1% of the primary votes.

Generally governors stand the best chance.
