A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
received this in my email June 10th, the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

The party I will be at will be big Steeler's bashing party because Cleveland is supposed to hate the steelers. (duh).. I have no such bias & find it interesting with all the hostility.. but it should be a great game.. two good teams with a lot of sentiment thrown in along the way

That's such a pretty picture, it must have been wonderful up there. My boys would have loved that!! We tossed a coin when hubby got out of the service, Texas or Alaska. Texas won. While I'm glad I ended up with a couple 'native Texans', I've always regretted that the coin didn't flip the other way.
And don't you just love pansies??!! I can never decide which color I like best. I've got the most beautiful blue ones this year, planted with some big white ones. For really special occassions we will decorate a cake with pansies-they are just the most beautiful cakes. The pansies can also be dipped in egg white and sugared with fine sugar to look frosted.
Your story has me rotf, laughing, remembering a fishing trip into upper Ontario. My Dad planned to take my adolescent brother on a bonding trip and I hustled my way in on it-refused to be left out- so to round it out my brother was able to take a friend. (Mom's idea of camping was a 5 star hotel LOL) The only access to the camp was by pontoon plane. The previous spring a bear had destroyed part of the cabin. Dad admonished us not to leave anything out that might attract animals. One night, a bump in the night woke us all up, wide-eyed. Dad said it MUST have been a bear walking into the suspended fuel tank; ) No further noise, but then the boys had to relieve themselves. The two of them darn sure wouldn't leave the cabin, so they cracked the door just enough to take care of business : )

Oh, dutchess, that is breathtaking! A true winter wonderland! What a beautiful sight!
It's just as pretty today as long as your looking at it from indoors! :o)
How did the flying lesson go?
There was virually zero visiability so I ended up with ground school. (which I still need plenty of to get ready for the written and oral exam. Alot of this stuff is like a foreign language to me.) Scheduled to fly again Sat. Hopefully the weather will cooperate!
To: MEG33; DollyCali
I am interested in the pregame and will check in on the game from time to time..I hope they do the Star Spangled Banner as well as last year's. I don't care who wins!
I'm the same way Meg. I also like to watch the commercials and ofcourse the Rolling Stones are doing the halftime show. Hopefully it will be much better than that Janet Jackson debacle a few years ago!
To: Diver Dave
Also not a good time to mention that I was out mowing the grass yesterday.
Grass???? What's grass??? BTW, loved those pictures of Christian and Logan you posted the other day. What adorable little guys!
To: LadyX
Thanks maggie. The snow is just as pretty today. I LOVE to ready about your Fairbanks experiences. Have NEVER been to Alaska. It's another one of those things on my "to do" list! ((((maggie)))))
To: dutchess
I love to look at it..from indoors..Good luck on your flying.

Need to run. Feeling a little guilty watching Mr. D. shovel the drive, dig out my car etc. (since I left it in the drive instead of the garage yesterday...oops) Hope you all have a blessed Sunday!
