Reuters Additional Information
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Police at the U.S. Capitol arrested anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan on Tuesday, shortly before President Bush was to give his annual State of the Union speech, a police spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman, Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, said she had no immediate details.
Sheehan had been invited to be a guest at the address to a joint session of Congress by U.S. Rep. Lynn Woolsey, a California Democrat.
Sheehan, who became a central figure for the U.S. anti-war movement after her soldier son Casey was killed in the Iraq war, won wide attention with an anti-war vigil outside Bush's Texas ranch.
CNN said Sheehan was arrested after unveiling a banner and was being held on Capitol Hill for about an hour, which would keep her away from the address, which was set to start at 9 p.m. EST.
Sheehan and other activists were arrested in September for protesting outside the White House without a permit, a misdemeanor that carriers a $50 fine.

A newsroom type shares notes:
This from Sgt. Kimberly Schneider of U-S Capitol Police.... Cindy Sheehan was arrested in the gallery of the house floor tonight and charged with demonstrating in the Capitol--a misdemeanor. ...Sgt. Schneider says she was wearing a T-shirt with a slogan on it and was asked to cover it up. Sheehan did not cover it up and she was arrested. ....She is being processed at Capital Police hd and is expected to be released at some point tonight. The misdemeanor charge carries one year in jail. .."
I don't know if we should give a medal of valor to whoever volunteers to do that... or a swift smack upside the head with a rolled-up newspaper.
Oops, sorry! I thought it was The Guardian's flub. Well, anyway, it's not like we didn't all know what it meant.
Only if she was unsatisfactory to the head mistress.
If only I had photoshop...
Umm, no, I mean The Guardian might have screwed it up when they wrote it. Because they had to throw this story together pretty fast. And even though I'm working faster, my grammar is still better.
Was she digging up the front lawn looking for bones?
The animals involved in that day...those who supported them...those who are still trying to bring the same to these shores... must all die.
Oh, don't worry. It's being fired up at thousands of computers around the world as we speak.
If hitlery can speak to eleanor roosevelt, then tookie ought to be able to address the nation....no?
I don't know - the line from a Stephen King novel came to mind.
"Get thee gone from the skin of this earth..."
What gift? Some tongue spit?
"And as Judge Alito's first act on the SC, he will order an immediate strip search of Cindy...to be conducted by Teddy Kennedy and Johnny Kerry."
You can't do that! Forcing them to strip search her would kill them both...oh wait, never mind!
This is more sinister and amusing than cartoons of Mohammed. Off with her t-shirt!
"Ha... half the DUmmies are yelling "fascism," the other half are saying "d00d stfu u r teh SUCK its against teh r00ls rotflmfaowtfbbq!!!!11!one!1!eleven!1!!1!"
LOLOL!!!!!!!!!!
DUmpster is at Defcon 2 again, that's twice in two days, man think of the trillions of electrons dying in vain over there.
Saw her make an ass of herself (again) inside of about 3 minutes at the Code Pink thing C-Span's before the President's SOTU speech, when she actually BRAGGED about how two (unchaperoned, know-nothing-about-life) 8TH GRADERS approached her at her book signing and promised they were gonna start an anti-military recruitment movement come their freshman year in HS, after which she told her audience that she signed their SHOES as a thank you for coming and for joinin' the anti-war movement!
Things is, that story got a HUGE laugh from her useful idiot audience that it clearly wasn't supposed to. But even that flew right by her.
I swear, the depth of that woman's delusion is mind boggling! Never mind scary!
