Just speculating. I have no direct information regarding these injuries. However, when referring to "head injury" we mostly are referring to "closed head injuries", involving some injury to the brain or collection of blood beneath the dura mater which puts pressure on the brain. If there had been only lacerations to the scalp and face, this would not have been referred to as "head injury". I wish these 2 Americans the best, but having been in surgery for several hours, and now in critical, but stable condition, it sounds very serious.

Main Entry: rab·ble-rous·er Pronunciation: 'ra-b&l-"rau-z&r Function: noun : one that stirs up (as to hatred or violence) the masses of the people : DEMAGOGUE - rab·ble-rous·ing /-zi[ng]/ noun or adjective
How is this slander? There has been much stirring up of the masses.

Where in my post did I wish harm and death to Woodruff and Vogt? I was merely pointing out the fact that some people at ABC have been sleeping with the enemy.
Man, learn to read.

I agree with Leadpenny that the media is not a united group. A monolith is not the total of the media. But there are so many untrustable and hostile in the media to the values of the US people and US Military that we cannot trust them all.
If we can agree that a significant portion of the media are leftists that hold values that are opposed to us and they work to propoganda the American people, then we can understand that they are hostile until we know other than that. It is that we cannot take the risk of trusting them when so many of them are hostile.
I do not blame these soldiers for mistrust and hostilite to the media it is easy only to understand when you see how they manipulate. Because of what they see and hear it in the media it is only natural.
You are right we are not monolithic{it is a good word} and the media is not and the soldiers are not I heard that the two injured newsmen is better now. That is fortunate that they will get better but I am still cynical of the media. I think I still share with the much of the military my not trusting the media.

DU has been claiming the body armor is inadequate. Hmmm. More fodder for the MSM.

Please don't let the stupid comments on this thread get you down. Those making the comments are just making fools of themselves. More importantly, those comments are outweighed by the thoughtful and caring comments.

For the record, that accustion was countered almost immediately.
We've got a bit of a feel-good lynch-mob thing going on here, as you can plainly see.
To: WhistlingPastTheGraveyard
Feel-good lynch-mob?
How special of you.
Is there something wrong with looking past political affiliation and wishing two US Human beings well?
Tell me, what did you think of David Bloom and his reporting, prior to his unfortunate passing?

American so-called MSM should be doing stories on the talent and dedication of our medical staff. What they are doing is truly stuff of imagination only a few years ago, and it just gets reported in nursing job-fair-type magazine.
What missed opportunities to tell Americans about other American heroes. Oh wait, those stories would sound like "cheer-leading", like "taking sides," which our so-called fourth estate shrinks from being called.

Hold your nose and go over to CNN where they will go inside the AF Field Hospital in Iraq.
It might help to give you all a visual what conditions these surgeons operate under..amazing.

As I understand it,
VEHICLE armor is better that
BODY armor. :o)
From www.casperstartribune.net:
...They were wearing body armor and helmets but were standing up in the hatch of the mechanized vehicle when the device exploded, exposing them to shrapnel.

Is there something wrong with looking past political affiliation and wishing two US Human beings well? No. But there is something wrong with getting so wrapped in shooting down anyone and everyone who doesn't express that precise sentiment that you end up lobbing patently false charges at people for no good reason.
If you follow this particular correspondence back up the thread, you'll see what I'm referring to.
Tell me, what did you think of David Bloom and his reporting, prior to his unfortunate passing?
I'd always thought NBC News was the most fair of the three majors, before and after Bloom's death. I didn't always care for Bloom's reporting, but I thought he genuinely tried to be impartial.
Now, tell me, what would your reaction be if harm came to a Peter Arnett, or Bill Moyers?

In other new, it has been determined that George Washington obviously trained with the U.S. ARMY -- not with the Navy -- as a NAVY man would have known not to STAND UP in a rowboat. :o)

I am just asking about Bloom because I saw this paragraph in one of the news bits about Woodruff:
Some observers yesterday immediately noted the close friendship between Woodruff and David Bloom, the NBC anchor who died of a pulmonary embolism while covering the opening days of the war in April 2003. Woodruff left his embed to take Bloom's remains home for burial. Both Woodruff's wife, Lee, and Bloom's wife, Melanie, are particularly close friends, and Woodruff has been a surrogate father to Bloom's three children. Woodruff has four children of his own.
If harm were to come to Peter Arnett or Bill Moyers, my reaction would be the same. I'd offer prayers for them and their families. I am not a ghoul and do not in anyway rejoice in tragic brought to other humans.
Maybe because I lost a close family member at one time and know how it feels to grieve the loss of your own blood.
