Debate continues in the Senate today on the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. At present no time has been announced for a final vote. Stop by and discuss.
Dick Durbin would call it, "The Crushing Hand of Fate."
Sheryl Crowe would call it karma..
LOL.
Guess the Ketchup Gulfstream will be wheels up soon..LOL..
Kerry said in Switzerland today he wants a filibuster.
One Senator can withhold consent to move to the vote. As a practical matter, this is futile unless that Senator has 40 like-minded Senators, so as to be able to overcome a cloture motion.
There are other methods to delay taking the vote, but that's the most likely one in play here; and it won't play because Kerry won't find 40 like-minded Senators, willing to vote NAY on cloture, for this nominee.
I heard Thune putting some judicial nominees on the calendar...boy, Kavanaugh....Frist is getting brave!!!
"Look for the same thing to happen to the Patriot Act later this month"
Later this month? Shoot, it's already the end of the business day on January 27th - there are only 2 business days LEFT in January! How much more later are they gonna get? And what happens to the Patriot Act without them working on it by the end of January?
That was Lieberman's rationale too, but not stated quite as bluntly.
I read that FRist and Reid are meeting later..an annoucement will come today, on the vote, because senators have to make travel plans..do you think it will come on MOnday...
No, not fillibuster.. Fill It Up Buster, my glass is empty.
Oh, Teresa, I still have to go and get my tan sprayed back on before we leave.
LOL...I would LOVE for anything to happen IN PUBLIC, that would get her shrillness to show!!!
Unfortunately, books have been written, telling all about her tantrums, and the way she treats "the help"...but, she still manages to get voted "The Most respected woman", year after year...blech
Didn't MOve On and Obama give Sheets a fundraiser, after he spoke at their meeting?...
Does he want to partake of a filibuster après ski?
What are you doing in Davos, John? I thought you wanted a filabuster
Kerry to the rescue! America is saved! Dems want to nominate Soros!
Oh...yeah...I heard that she was having that author on today...because he "has some 'splainin to do"...
Soo....you are saying that his explanation didn't satisfy Queen Oprah???
This is all I can find re: Kerry filibuster ...

Kavanaugh was renominated by President Bush. The nomination may get stuck in Committee, as are a couple others. Frist hasn't moved on Myers (out of Committee since March 17, 2005), or Boyle (out of Committee since June 16, 2005). Truth be told, I bet he wishes those nominations would "go away."
