I think when he walked by the clerk he accidentally picked up Sen Frist's talking points sheet and hasn't realized it yet.

Remember who is the master of the filibuster and the nuke option.
Good ole Sheets. He doesn't want a filibuster because it exposes him. Plus he will vote yes or he will lose in November.

Lots of talk going on - on left wing blogs / sites that Bryd is supporting Alito? Can anyone confirm this?
I remember weeks ago Byrd adamantly saying there would be no filibuster of Alito. I actually expect Byrd to vote FOR Alito. He is running for election this year in WV. So desperate is he that he called for an MLK Day parade or something other like that.

Pretty sick....when the voting on the dems side is being decided on who is up for a vote this year, and who isn't!
To: LisaFab
Some of these Dems have big followings that do not believe in abortion. They're treading carefully. Ihis isn't about the Supreme Court...it's about State elections.

"Good grief. This is right wing spin. Poor Mrs. Alito in tears." "Why does he fall for those sham tears? He should be wiser. And why should Mrs Alito's tears be an issue in the confirmation proceedings?" "WHO's exploited her!?" "Byrd fell for the croc tears." "Is he slamming on the Media for playing up the Mrs Alito thing? Nope, he's defending her..."

He started off by saying that he had REAMS of letters written out in hand.... not form letters... from people in West Virginia..... all saying two words about the judicial hearing.

They'll send the dogs after him, ones like Hillary, Dean, Kerry, Pelosi, the usual mutts.

Byrd IS interesting but too long winded for most of us. He knows darn well that a filibuster is for legislative matters only...

"Ihis isn't about the Supreme Court...it's about State elections." And the longer they drag this out, the closer it gets to November. Not for nothing are they known as dummies.
