Question for Pro-Lifers (What Would you do in this case ?)

Posted on 01/25/2006 12:22:59 PM PST by SirLinksalot

After several months in this forum, I have never posted a vanity post before and this will be my first time, but I am posting this to find out whether anyone can help me find some moral direction on a life choice dilemma which is not different from the Terry Schiavo case...

I have a friend in Texas who was taking high blood medicine not knowing she was pregnant.

Very early in the pregnancy they took tests and were told that their baby will practically have no brain but being devout christians, they decided to go thru anyway.

Last week their baby was born and as predicted, without a brain but somehow she's breathing and "alive".

Now the parents are having second thoughts and just waiting for her to stop breathing and die.

What would be the most moral thing to do in this situation ?

Thanks for your feedback.

There are quite a few drugs which are known to cause birth defects. For example a woman of child bearing age who is prescribed Accutane most sign an affidavit that she will use two methods of Birth Control while on the medicine. I think Linksalot meant the woman was on a high blood pressure medication.

Hitler was a Eugenecist. He was against abortion being legal for " Aryan" woman. But for those who he felt were racially impure abortion was encouraged and even mandated at times. So depending on the woman involved Hitler could be either or. His anti-abortion beliefs did not have their foundation in Christian morality but in the idea that one race was superior to all others.

If this were nazi germany no problem..The woman would have been given an abortion because only perfect people were wanted...the liberals in this country feel the same way..Either these kids are human or their not..If its okay to kill humans, then its okay to KILL HUMANS!!!!!!!!

Evey law imposes someone's view of morality. I hope you realize that. Laws against murder, rape, stealing are not needed for those of us who are moral and ethical. They do however serve to give notice to the amoral of what civilazation will not tolerate.

Now, if you have selected clothes for your child to wear in his coffin and put a toy in his hands before they closed the lid, and then laid on the dirt over his grave the night of burial to keep the rain off....then we can talk some more.

Truth is immutable. What I posted is what I would advise as a best friend.

Knowing the pain that accompanies losing a child, when you've done everything you possibly could for that child, can you imagine the pain of knowing you had killed your child? I would want to save any parent from that unbearable pain. I would want to keep them from being taken advantage of during such a difficult time. Once it's done, there's no turning back.

You talked about her like she was an "it." Do you think you could step back from yourself long enough to realize that her parents aren't repulsed by her and looking for a way to walk away from her?

Your imagination. I did no such thing.

You are in TX? Why don't you tell us how many 'chop shops' are located within 200 miles of, say, Waco.

Two in Waco alone (and that's just Planned Parenthood) http://charityadvantage.com/plannedparenthoodwaco/ContactUs.asp
Within 200 miles, 57 Planned Parenthood and their approved clinics in the DFW area, 28 in Dallas alone.

Rare, sadly no..

Abortion is illegal in Germany.
..........................................

I don't think so.

According to one website: "Allowed on demand in first trimester or later: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden"

1. Fast and pray to God for guidance. 2. Act according to the answer you receive by the Holy Spirit.

Word up! God can do what humans cannot. Ignore the advice of other FReepers (myself included) as there are too many zealots here driving one agenda or another. Turn to God.

Do you have anything helpful to say to these parents, or did you just come here to be insulting? Can you think of anything that might enrich their experience with their daughter, or do you think they don't deserve it unless they agree to kill her?

This happened to my niece. I was told that when my brother (the baby's grandfather) went to see the baby, he held the baby and cried that he couldn't understand anyone wanting to abort a precious baby like this.

The whole family went to the hospital regularly and nurses insisted that any visitor hold the baby. The baby only lived a few days but the whole family had an emotional investment in him. I can't believe there is a family member that wishes he had been aborted.

Our regular obstetrician, a family friend for 30 years, did the procedure at our regular hospital.

Or do you want to increase their guilt and shame when they make a decision other than the one you would make for them?

If I wanted to increase their guilt, I'd advise them to kill their child. I'd sugar coat it with words like mercy, euphoria, right-to-die, peaceful passing, and compassionate end. Eventually they might see through that, but by then, they would have already killed their beloved daughter. Yes, that would be the ideal way to increase their guilt.

The poster asked for advice, and that's what I gave.

or did you just come here to be insulting?

I insulted no one, but was greeted with insults by you.

do you think they don't deserve it unless they agree to kill her?

Are you always this full of crap?

That answers the question. You've been given every opportunity to say something decent, and you have steadfastly refused. I see you have nothing nice to say to these parents, or anyone else.
