If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.
We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.
I'm here!
I'll be calling seats tonight - and note: the seats will NOT be called at the same time the media calls them.
Also, I will be ignoring the exit polls. ONLY real numbers count in my books.
My prediction: Conservative 134, Liberal 82, Bloc Quebecois 62, NDP 28, Independent 2
Yep, but apparently what's going on this time is that a results ban has been put in place. Meaning, no results will be given (over Canadian websites, anyway) until all the polls have closed in the country.
As a tip, checking out a place like Captain's Quarters blog might be good for earlier numbers (supposedly they're working on it -- it's an American site).
It will likely be past 2:00 am Eastern before the final results are known.
LOL ... you beat me to it. : )
Thanks. Sounds interesting.
Good Luck Canadian Conservatives...
There will still be blue pockets in Canada - the big cities (especially Toronto) for one...
I hate the terms "red state" and "blue state" as they ignore geographic splits and urban-rural divisions in those states...
The face I'll be watching tonight is Paul Martin -- he looks like he's overdue for a nervous breakdown.
I'll try to be up for it ... here in the Maritimes.
we'll start hearing results soon from the east coast...but no one cares about us here in the maritimes...but usually the rest of the country votes as they see it on the east coast...or it could be the other way around :D
Final results should be projected at around 10pm ET tonight...
Final results for the Atlantic Provinces that is.
Note to the Border Patrol: Don't let the "Milwaukee Five" into Canada!
Yeah...Drudge has an article on donut boy's belly-acheing.
Michael Moore...fat, factless, and Stupid is no way to go through life. Sooner or later Fat boy is going to keel over, and the world will be a better place for it.
Go Canada Conservatives...putting the "Great" back into Great White North.
Canada Ping!
Please FReepmail me to get on or off this Canada ping list.
Everyone expects the Cons to do great today. If however, it doesn't go that way, we officially invite Alberta to join the U.S.
We're watching!
I have already voted for the CPC during the advanced polling last week.
Eastern Ontario (where I am from) will send a large majority of CPC folks to Ottawa.
Voting closes in Ontario at 9:30 PM.
Oh, I know, and I'm not overly fond of the terms, especially since "blue" has usually been used for right leaning parties and "red" for left leaning parties.
But I still wanna see Michael Moores look when he's told that:
A) there are a lot of conservatives in Canada
and
B) They are in in charge of the place...
I'm sure he will be extremly miserable...
