Sen. Allen Rejects Reid's Apology; Blasts the Dems as Scurrilous, Bereft of Ideas, Shameless
Fox News Channel (Bill Hemmer) | 01/20/06 | HonduGOP

Posted on 01/20/2006 9:25:19 AM PST by HonduGOP

In the Fox News Channel Senator George Allen blasted the Democrats as shameless, bereft of ideas and rejected Harry Reid's apology for trying to taint 33 GOP Senators in the Abramoff Scandal. Senator Allen, a possible contender for the White House in 2008 ripped the "playbook" of the Democrats in the upcoming elections as scurrilous and beneath contempt since they have no new ideas to offer the American people. At the same time he gave little credibility to Osama Bin Laden's latest audiotape threatenig America as "old news".

Good for Allen. Someone who can stand up to the dimwitted left. Go Allen. Tell them like it is. We need more of that kind of talk.

The Binny tape IS old news, Allen is a smart man. Anyone got a transcript of Reid's apology?

Did you hear that the Dems chose the newly elected governor of Va to deliver the Dem response to the SOTU..shows how empty their bench is..

Sen Allen is my pick for 2008 and has been for a long time as you know. First time in my life I donated to a candidate this far out from the Presidential election for his Senate race.

Dingy Harry Reid is also trying to deflect criticism from himself.

He does remind me of the slime ball Senator potrayed in Godfather II in Nevada who had a change of heart about the Corleones after he was found with a dead hooker.

The Senator was played by the great character actor, G.D. Spradlin, Semper Paratus.

Who has made a very memorable career of playing slimy characters. An elegant, very highly polished Steve Buscemi.

Jack.

I don't think he has the charisma to win, but I like anyone who rips into the dingy one.

As someone said above, Reid has an awful lot of dirty laundry in his bag. I think Reid realized that the last thing he wants to do is to start throwing stones from his glass house. I think the Republican strategy is now clear, it will be open season on Reid from soup to nuts. They are going to make him the poster boy for the truly corrupt party in congress.

Indications are that 40 out of 45 sitting Democratic Senators have taken money from Jack Abramoff or his clients.

‘There is no question that Jack Abramoff is a problem - a problem for Republicans and a problem for Democrats,’ said Joe Cannon, Utah Republican chairman. ‘One of the biggest beneficiaries of Jack Abramoff is Harry Reid.’

"Reid received about $61,000 in donations from American Indian tribes represented by Abramoff".”
(Matt Canham, “Reid drops by to push ethics reform package,” Salt Lake City Tribune, January 12, 2006)

Also of interest, based upon info retrieved the Campaign Finance Analysis Project Website, Political Money Line and the IRS website, the National Rebublican Senatorial Committee website reports:

Dick Durbin (D-IL) Received At Least $14,000
Chuck Schumer (D-NY) Received At Least $29,550
John Kerry (D-MA) Received At Least $98,550

Yes, that's been all over the news today.
And today, our new governor is about to propose new taxes when the state is projecting a $1B+ surplus!

I've always liked Senator Allen. I saw him at my church in Richmond when he was Senator-elect Allen. He just sat amongst everyone else, and couldn't have been any nicer. I like when Allen speaks up. I hope he doesn't lose his spine if he makes a presidential run.

I too think George Allen may be the '08 man, but there's a lot of territory to cover yet in '06-'07...and he is a Senator not a Govenor.

He was governor of Virginia. Now, he's senator from Virginia.
And one day, I hope he'll be president from Virginia.
