Nixzmary's Funeral (A question for my fellow Marine FReepers)
Self

Posted on 01/19/2006 7:25:50 AM PST by NYleatherneck

After watching a story about this poor child on the evening news last night, my wife asked me an interesting question that I had no good answer for. Why did this young girl have a U.S. Marine honor guard to carry her casket out of the church? I thought it was a beautiful gesture on the part of the Corps, but for the life of me, I can't figue out why. Does anyone have any info ?

Semper Fi,

-B

It's the same reason that the United States flag is flown at half-staff for causes not originally part of flag etiquette.

He/she deserves it. Everyone is equal. etc..

It was an honor well deserved by this tragic little girl.

As the priest said yesterday, she is now safe from the evil here on earth.

Agreed.

Someone - most obviously, her parents - failed her in the most horrible way during her life.

At least she got some respect in death.

Peace to her, in God's loving arms.

According to the New York Sun, the honor guard was made up of eight cadets from a group called the Harlem Youth Marines. Their leader, Lt.Col. Greg Collins read about the child's death and volunteered their services.

Why did this young girl have a U.S. Marine honor guard to carry her casket

My guess is that the Harlem Youth Marines are not part of the U.S. Marine honor guard.

To me, it is just another proud example of what makes our military special. Compassion, decency, respect and honor.

God... Bless them all.

As a bonus, hopefully it scared the living crap out of the monsters that caused her death.

They looked downright terrified in the arrest photos.

It was a nice gesture. So many people failed her in life; I guess they were showing her support in death.

I've said this before: I know the step-father is accused of actually killing her; but the mother should be charged with something even more serious. I hate when the mother gets a lesser sentence, or is charged with a less serious offense.

Even an abused spouse should be accountable. Hedda Nussbaum could have picked up Lisa Steinberg and her son and just walked out. That simple. She didn't. I can't believe how little jail time she got. Even the bastard Joel Steinberg is out now.

I hope Nizmary's "parents" rot in jail for the rest of their miserable lives.

Toys for Tots -
The Marine Corp Reserve has a special warmth for small children.

And every marine would like 5 minutes with the "parents"
