52% of Americans: Impeach Bush on wiretaps (Zogby)
WorldNetDaily ^ | 16 January 2006

A new Zogby poll indicates a majority of Americans want Congress to consider impeaching President Bush if he wiretapped American citizens without a judge's approval.

Respondents were asked if they agreed or disagreed with the following statement:

"If President Bush wiretapped American citizens without the approval of a judge, do you agree or disagree that Congress should consider holding him accountable through impeachment."

The poll found that 52 percent agreed, 43 percent disagreed and 6 percent said they didn't know or declined to answer.

"The American people are not buying Bush's outrageous claim that he has the power to wiretap American citizens without a warrant," said Bob Fertik, co-founder of the left-leaning group AfterDowningStreet.org which commissioned the survey. "Americans believe terrorism can be fought without turning our own government into Big Brother."

The poll interviewed 1,216 adults in the U.S. from Jan 9-12, and has a 2.9 percent margin of error.

As one might expect, the respondents' political affiliation played a role in their answer, as 66 percent of Democrats favored impeachment, as did 59 percent of Independents, but only 23 percent of Republicans.

One month ago, one-third of Americans polled by Rasmuseen Reports said they believe Bush should be impeached.

I got called before the 2004 election and said I supported Kerry when the reality is I voted for Bush.

Why did you do that? Do you think it helped Bush? I hope you never complain that polls are "biased."

This research course told you needed 10% of a population for it to be a representative sample (even if you allow a 3-4% margin of error)? I'd be interested in hearing how they justify that claim.

Zogby must have made a lot of $$$ during the last few years because credibility is no longer a matter of significance.

Exactly. In addition to the other problems, he asked a biased question.

Heck, I would answer yes to the should consider question if I did not know the whole story of the program.

In the polls in which it is clear why the spying was done, Americans support it by huge numbers.

Zogby is an Arab anti-US zealot.

I answered one of his polls....until I saw the way the questions were (slanted) worded...he has an agenda.

No telling how much damage he has done to the patriotism of Americans that don't, or can't, think for themselves....which is far too many.

Zogby is the face of the enemy in America.

Common sense also leads me to concur with the view that .000004% of the US population cannot possibly represent the whole.

Hmm. How many Democrats were polled, compared to Republicans and so-called "undecideds"?

It was random poll..........taken in downtown New York, Boston, Seattle and San Fransisco.

First of all, 1,200/300,000,000 = 0.000004 = 0.0004%, not 0.000004%. Second of all, clearly you can accept that there can be a sample of 1,200 people that is representative of the population as a whole on a certain issue, meaning that if 60% of the population supports this issue and 40% opposes it, 60% (720 people) of this sample will support it, and 40% will oppose it.

Since it is clearly possible that a sample can be representative of a whole on an issue, why can't you accept the laws of statistics that say that 1,200 (randomly selected) people is enough to be representative to a reasonable degree of certainty?

"If President Bush wiretapped American citizens...

They are not "American citizens". They are terrorists. This polls is a fraud and Zogby is a fraud.

Zogby sends me an online poll occasionally and I vote straight line Republican, and he knows that. The last one he sent asked questions about my sex life. I refused to answer and told him why, IT'S NONE OF HIS BUSINESS!
He didn't send me this one about impeaching President Bush because he knew I was against it. DENY THAT ZOGBY! He can take his stupid polls and stuff them where the sun don't shine.

It's possible that I misplaced a decimal. No problem there. What I am saying to you is that the chance of the survey being random decreases tremendously once you go under ten percent. A survey of less than one percent of the population would be easy to manipulate. A survey of ten percent would be almost impossible to manipulate.

Zogby has NO credibility.

POLLS HAVE NO CREDIBILITY. (Sorry to shout, but polls are a frustrating subject to me.)
