Last night, Special Report panel was counting at worst, low sixties at best (including Joe Lieberman) 70.

At least C-Span is not like FNC and CNN, who tell you what you just heard and what that might mean. :)

I switch around among the cable news channels. I avoided FoxNews, when we first got cable, but when I began to watch it, I learned that Hume's summaries of developments usually matched what I had decided independently after watching C-Span.

The best original source is C-Span. It does a great job of presenting both sides of issues, to those like me who often have free time to watch hours of TV.

When I don't have time, I trust Hume.

Of course! Victimhood is the life blood of these losers.

Alito will force Kate to the "back alley" she dreams about and blacks will not be able to vote if he is confirmed.

That is correct.

Brit Hume had to remind Mara Liasson when she said that this is the new way of the Judiciary Committee, that R's were very polite to Breyer and Ginsberg and deferred to Clinton's prerogative to have his pick

Rush should put together a montage of every time a democrat has said "troubled" in the Alito hearings.

Obviously, based on that pic, Leahy does not respect people's privacy. Does Pat have a warrant to conduct that eavesdropping?

Any Republican that votes against Alito is headed for the political graveyard IMO. It's time for the RINOS to step up to the plate.

Given the Democrats behavior and performance this week, it's probably a safe bet that red-state Democrats will probably be persuaded to vote for Alito. I'm still thinking the 22 Democrats that voted against Roberts will vote against Alito, because they can afford to.

Scotusblog (Kevin Russell)
11:56 Sen. Coburn thanks everyone and that's the end of the panel. There will be a 5 minute break and then a final panel.

11:51 Sen. Sessions: compliments Mr. Gray as a leader from the South. The both chuckle over the fact that each had dashed hopes of a judgeship.

Gray notes that he had a very different motivation for going to law school than Alito -- implying that Gray wanted to challenge segregation, while Alito wanted to challenge liberal Supreme Court precedents.

Sessions points out that a lot of the progress Gray made was based on overruling Supreme Court precedent, so everyone's insistence on the value of maintaining precedents should be seen in the light.

Gray also thanks Session for helping with funding for the Tuskegee Human and Civil Rights Center.

11:50 Sen. Hatch takes over. Says hello to everyone. That's it.

11:46 Michelman is asked to speak generally on the effect of Alito's confirmation on women generally.

She notes that the road to equality has been long and difficult, and has been both a political and legal struggle (notes she was not allowed to have a charge account in 1969 because she wasn't married).

True equality depends on the ability of women to "control their lives" including chosing jobs and when or if to become mothers. It's hard to explain how important that is.
