Every dem senator went after Ashcroft's religious beliefs.I remember those hearings very clearly. What a witch hunt. ASHCROFT HEARING-LAST DAY- THREAD 7 on FR
I found it hard to believe that in America (of all countries!) a man was being subjected to a religious test before getting a job he was well qualified for.
The Democrats really showed what they were made of during those hearings.
The Dems couldn't even follow the ordinary rules of courtesy. It was sometimes hard to hear the testimony being given by witnesses, because Schumer and Feinstein were "whispering" to each other too loudly.

Truth. And Judge Alito added that it should demonstrate his attitude toward hiring minorities and women.

I am not a lawyer but have worked with many. Rule #1 is that you never ask a question that you do not already know the answer to.

Anyone have a talley of lies told by the Dems yesterday?A number has not been invented that goes that high.
To: imskylark
I cannot believe I missed that. That is too sweet. Oh, how I hope they show a clip of that.

NARAL, Moveon.org, Soros, People for the American Way fax their questions to their bought and paid for senators and the senators ask the questionsHoping somebody would have slipped a fake fax to Durbin for a Ron Burgundy moment.
To: retrokitten
LOL!
Well we had Biden lying out his rear, Durbin, lies about CAP, mountains out of mole hill with Vanguard, Stare Decisis paranoia.
Who says this has been boring???

Hatch is doing great right now - and you are right - he does know how to go for the jugular. Well named. One thing I like about him is he is actually listening to Alito's responses. Have you noticed how the dems won't even look at him responding but shuffle through their papers looking for the next best attempt to "got'cha"?

I have gotten the distinct impression that the Dems know that they have no chance to keep Alito off of the court...
The fight now is for the middle, I know; what else is new? The confirmation hinges on the votes to be found within the "Gang of Fourteen." My count, right now, is four Pub's yes, two Dim's yes. When added to the forty-eight solid votes in the Senate, Alito goes on to the SCOTUS. And the "extraordinary circumstances" issue certainly can't be, IMHO, in play now as far as a filibuster is concerned.
Leahy limped in on the second round with very weak questioning. The Dim's are spinning their wheels up to this point; and the Pub's continue to provide Alito with effective questions to tidy up his responses to the lame Left's dithering.
