Every dem senator went after Ashcroft's religious beliefs.I remember those hearings very clearly. What a witch hunt. ASHCROFT HEARING-LAST DAY- THREAD 7 on FR
I found it hard to believe that in America (of all countries!) a man was being subjected to a religious test before getting a job he was well qualified for.
The Democrats really showed what they were made of during those hearings.
The Dems couldn't even follow the ordinary rules of courtesy. It was sometimes hard to hear the testimony being given by witnesses, because Schumer and Feinstein were "whispering" to each other too loudly.

(Chuck Schumer is outclassed intellectually by Bush's judicial nominees.)

The Dems are not only being discourteous--they are violating TITLE SEVEN of the Civil Rights Act by using religion as a basis for a person qualifying for a job in the Federal Sector. Being confirmed to be Attorney General or a member of SCOTUS is in essence applying for a job in the Federal government. Sugesting a person could be denied a position on the basis of their religious beliefs is DISCRMINATION!!
Maybe this is so obvious it has not been used to smack the Dems with. It needs to be!

The devils, er dems, were asserting that precisely because Ashcroft was religious he wouldn't be able to do his job.
Evidently only G-Dless moral relativists are allowed to serve their country.
