Alito Hearings Set to Begin
Today the multi-day confirmation hearings for Samuel Alito begin. They are expected to last all week, possibly into Saturday. First up will be a series of opening statements by the eighteen members of the Senate Judiciary Cmte. After that comes the introduction of Samuel Alito and his opening statement.

He truly is coming off very calm....not reading... remembering all this.....organized thoughts....nice!
I did notice. It's not so much a gauntlet as it is asserting the right (which he has) to carefully compose responsive answers. He takes this seriously, and is not going to be pushed around. He is "asserting" himself as an equal to those asking the questions. That's an appropraite attitude, and he seems capable of balancing that with humor and straight language (straight responsive answers).
He's a flippin' nerd! I love it!
I think we're gonna get some fireworks from Sam in response to the Dem smears..
They mentioned his not being as prepared as Roberts or something like that. But it looks like he's doing just fine.
They are just plain rude!

Only if rebuting them with fact constitutes fireworks. He's a smooth operator, and his "message" is true to his heart - this will not be hard for him.

I expect every word by the Judge will be challenged by the 'rats including the the's and the and's.

You are correct. It was NBC with the GM truck gas tank. CBS has had its share of erroneous reporting on the automotive industry, though.
