WASHINGTON
Embattled Rep. Tom DeLay decided Saturday to give up his post as House majority leader, clearing the way for new leadership elections among House Republicans eager to shed the taint of scandal, two officials said.
These officials said DeLay, R-Texas, was preparing a letter informing fellow House Republicans of his decision. These officials spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt the formal announcement.
DeLay is battling campaign finance charges in Texas and was forced to step aside temporarily as majority leader last fall after he was charged in his home state. He has consistently maintained his innocence and said he intended to resume his leadership post once cleared.
I don't think my husband would agree with that statement and neither do I.
You've gone over the edge. Good bye.
it's just a partial til next week, if i need 1
Oh! I get it, now.
It doesn't matter if we lose a few members to satisfy the dims and media bloodlust as long as we win elections!
One request...before I become a man by joining the dims...could the next member to get thrown under the bus be somebody I despise?? McCain would do for starters....
He was saying just yesterday that he intended to stay in his post. Then last night on Fox it was reported that Ed Gillespie, the former RNC chair, was flying to Texas to twist his arm into resigning. I guess they worked him over pretty well.
Well, take it easy. :)
Wow, I love how we stand up for what's right no matter what.
What a way to stick together guys. That should teach the media and the Dems to never do that again won't it.
I'm really sorry. Hope it doesn't hurt too much. Alito hearings supposedly start on Monday....you have to get better so we can have your live thread..:-)
Let us hope so.
Just damn!
The Rats will be dancing in the streets; Ronnie Earle will be the toast of Austin.
If any of you here believe this is a win for the Pubs, just go over to the DU or be a fly on the wall in Earl's office. They can't even hold their bladders their so excited. The Dems know how to bring down anyone effective now.
I don't give a rat's patootie about Tom DeLay, and there are several fine candidates for his job, but I HATE having the Dims bring him down!
Read their "Special Interest Ratings" and then tell me that they still look like Conservatives to you. You can also read their entire voting records at:
http://www.vote-smart.org/index.htm
(Just do a search on their last names.)
People that receive 100% ratings from NARRAL and Planned Parenthood for voting as they want them to can hardly be less than RINOs, IMHO.
However, if you just mean they're "honorable" in the sense that they'll waste your tax dollars and vote for things you find offensive, though won't take any soft money from fundraisers/lobbyists, I can see your point. ;)
And you're right...hardly anyone with an (R) behind their names these days is Conservative enough for me. But that's just me. :)
"Fox keeps saying Jerry Lewis and Boehner(sp)"
No way should Boehner be considered. Are we seriously going to sit back and let the Dems force out DeLay over trumped-up charges, and then put Boehner in his spot?
Boehner was being pinned with all sorts of ethics abuses back when he was Chairman of the HRC! We will be in the same situation, if not worse, the minute he is considered for the job. NO WAY!
Ouch! Are you typing one-handed? I've tried doing that when I've been on the phone, and it's a real pain (no pun intended). Hope you heal fast!
Too bad. Tom Delay is solid. What a shame. Once he gets cleared I hope he works his way back up the leadership ladder.
He's just a low down back stabbing (of Tom Delay) open borders piece of drek. What sad sacks and weaklings the Republicans have on board.
yep and why do you have to look when you do it like this ?
